'I feel a lot more confident!' Anne Hathaway reveals how 'pushing a baby out' has changed her for the better

It's not the easiest way to get a confidence boost.

But Anne Hathaway claims giving birth made her feel she can take on the world.

Talking to Ellen DeGeneres on a show airing Tuesday, the 33-year-old opened up about how welcoming eight-week-old Jonathan transformed her.

'Being a Mom has changed me in a couple ways,' the Alice Through The Looking Glass star confided in Ellen. 'I actually... feel a lot more confident.'

And she shared a tale of how this helped her feel at home at the gym - one spot where she often feels out of place.

'I would normally walk in and feel so intimidated,' she admitted. 'But I walk in I’m like "yeah I work out with 5 pound weights, but I pushed a baby out of my body" I feel good right now. So I don’t care what I look like, I feel great.'

But, shared Anne, her new confidence didn't stop others from commenting on her body.

During a recent workout she noticed a beefy trainer staring at her.

'I’m like "Oh God. Am I doing something wrong" and in the past I just would have slunk off my machine.'

But, buoyed by her new confidence, Anne decided to approach and ask what was wrong.

'I’m like "Hey is everything cool? do you want to work in?" And he goes "Oh God no. I’m just in my own world."

'So I go back and I get off the machine and he comes up to me. He’s like so "You been working out at this gym for a long time?" And I’m like "Oh my god he’s hitting one. Nice new mom."

'I feel really good about myself and I’m like "Oh, yeah I’ve been coming here for a little bit."'

But it seems her admirer was watching her workout from a professional viewpoint.

'He’s like "Cool, I’m a trainer here and just wondering if you want some points."

'And I’m like "Oh no he’s not hitting on you he just wants a job."'

Do quirky cool in a dress by Christopher Kane

Anne Hathaway attended the premiere of Alice Through The Looking Glass and we think she chose her dress perfectly for the occasion.

If we're talking Wonderland and Mad Hatters, the Queen of Hearts and the Cheshire Cat then Anne's quirky little number is the ideal piece for anyone wanting to go down a fashion rabbit hole.

This striped confection is from Christopher Kane's AW16 collection and we love the contrasting black and white with the floral print and appliqué. And who can resist an off shoulder strap in the form of leaves and branches? Not us.

Sadly this dress won't be available for a while but click (right) to shop Kane's current line at Net-a-Porter. Or recreate the stripey floral look with one of the dresses in our edit below. From Mary Katrantzou to Asos we've got you covered.

So the new mother explained she'd just had a baby.

'I’m expecting him to say the thing that you say when someone says that you’ve had a baby,' joked Anne, admitting she was hoping for a compliment.

'Which is "Oh my God. You look great!"

'Doesn’t matter if it’s true. If somebody says "I had a baby 13 years ago" you say "You look great."

'That is what you do that is the etiquette. So I say to this guy I had a baby seven weeks ago.

'And he goes "Oh, trying to lose the baby weight!"'

But whatever her onlooker thought of her figure, it's clear Anne will not be embarking on a carzy diet plan to shed the baby weight.

The trim Les Miserables star looked incredible in a black form fitting dress for her interview.
