Showing them how it’s done! Pop divas Ariana Grande and Christina Aguilera showcase their powerhouse vocals during sensational duet on The Voice finale

They are both known for their powerhouse vocals.

And Tuesday night saw Ariana Grande and Christina Aguilera join forces to belt out Ariana’s hit single, Dangerous Woman, on the season finale of The Voice.

The 22-year-old singer kicked things off as she dazzled the crowd with her sultry track before Christina joined her on stage halfway through the performance.

While Ariana opted for an all-white ensemble, Christina, 35, was the yin to her yang in as she rocked a black bra underneath high-waisted trousers and a blazer.

Ariana was heard saying, ‘Christina, take it away girl’ before Christina sang her way onto the stage surrounded by a troop of sexy female dancers.

The combination of Ariana’s dulcet tones with Christina’s distinctive deep and raspy vocals provided the audience with a new take of the single.

Ariana started her set with new single, Into You, on the dazzling set which featured a neon light archway. 

Sorting a boob tube underneath her suit, the diminutive pop star worked the stage with male back-up dancers.

She accessorised with a embellished choker and wore her locks in her trademark high ponytail. 

The duet had been organised after Christina's anticipated virtual duet with a hologram of the late Whitney Houston had to be scrapped because the technology was not able to meet expectation.

Later in the night, Christina was left overjoyed as her contestant Alisan Porter was crowned the winner of season 10 of The Voice.

Alisan made history as she became the first winning contestant to come from a female coach. 

The 34-year-old Californian screamed 'Oh my god!' and hugged Christina as the announcement was made. 

'I truly believe she is the definition of The Voice,' Christina said of her protégée, who played Curly Sue in the 1991 movie of the same name.

'Every rehearsal with Alisan was fun,' added Christina, who had bonded with her student over their motherly duties and love of music.

'She speaks mom,' said Alisan who also inspired with her recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. 

Adam Wakefield representing coach Blake Shelton finished in second while Hannah Huston of Pharrell Williams's team was third and Laith Al-Saadi of Adame Levine's team was fourth. 

The announcement came after two hours of performances by guest artists and former contestants.

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik sang electronic pop song Like I Would from his album Mind Of Mine. 

Country music group Little Big Town opened the night with One Of Those Days – a new track produced by Pharrell for their upcoming non-country album Wanderlust.

Hannah joined former The Voice mentor CeeLo Green for a down tempo version of Gnarls Barkley's 2006 hit Crazy.

Laith then paired up with rocker Joe Walsh, 68, for Rocky Mountain Way.

The 27-time Grammy winner Alison Krauss sang a soothing country track called Willin with Adam Wakefield.

Adam Wakefield praised his coach.

'Blake was the first person who really believed in me as an artist,' he said.

'He's very funny…I've never met anyone like him on the show,' agreed Blake, who asked to hug Adam 'from behind'.

'No way,' yelled Adam.

Final four: Adam, Alisan, Hannah Huston and Laith Al-Saadi waited to learn if they made the final two

Australian artist Sia performed Cheap Thrills with three athletic dancers in nude bodysuits.

Alisan brought back Kata Hay, Paxton Ingram and Ryan Quinn for 'a killer rock show' of Straight On by Heart.

In The Voice Confessional the coaches gushed about their contestants.

Carson Daly described Blake as having a 'complete drink dominance over Twitter' as they joked about his 'gambling problem'.

'I don't have a gambling problem, you want to bet?' joked Blake as they played a montage of his many wagers on the show.

Blake then hit the stage with his 'very personal' song She's Got A Way With Words from his album If I'm Honest.

Laith resurrected Owen Danoff, Kasie Basden and 16-year-old Shalyah Fearing to sing Ray Charles' Georgia On My Mind.

In a funny skit Pharrell met with some school kids for a 'story time' that involved reading out the lyrics of songs from his fellow coaches.

'Are we done here?' asked one of the children after he was subjected to the tale of Christina's hit Genie In A Bottle.

Alisan Porter teamed with country singer Jennifer Nettles, 41, for the new ballad Unlove You.

Adam Wakefield brought back Mary Sarah, Justin Whisnant, and Nick Hagelin for Gimme Some Lovin by the Spencer Davis Group.

The Voice will return for season 11 on NBC in September with Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys as new coaches.
