Horrific Helmet-camera footage captured by the mountain biker showed him riding down a rocky hill at speed in the town of Bicske in Hungary before mistiming a jump and slamming into the ground with a crunch. Writing online after the incident, the man explained that he broke his tibia, fibula, talus and calcaneus, tore his left pectoral and had concussion. Since the crash he has had two surgeries and is hopeful that he will soon be able to walk without a limp.

Video shows a man dumping 30lb of dry ice into his pool

YouTuber, Taras Kulakov, 28, also known as Crazy Russian Hacker decided to find out what happens when you dump 30lb of ice in a pool. The result is a giant cauldron-like cloud of mist and bubbles. Kulakov's channel is dedicated to hacks and backyard experiments, from how to peel potatoes in a bucket to making chips in your microwave. This experiment was less about practicality and more about wow-factor. The 28-year-old has more than seven million subscribers and the video has been viewed more than seven million times.

In the first part of the footage, shot in the town of Valsad in Gujarat, India, a boy has to run to the other side of the road after losing his footwear.

Scientists at Florida Institute of Technology used a high-speed camera to capture an amazing lighting flash from near the university's Melbourne campus. The video taken hows what lightning looks like in slow motion, revealing the way the charged particles move in a forked pattern before lighting up the sky when they reach the ground (sequence pictured). The research team hopes to study the dynamics of the upward electrical discharges from thunderstorms known as starters, jets and gigantic jets.
