'Johnny Manziel will die if he carries on like this': Friends of disgraced former quarterback say his drug and alcohol abuse has reached worrying levels

  • Friends say Manziel is in a 'downward spiral' and desperately needs help
  • Claim they 'confronted' Manziel about abuse but he 'didn't want to hear it'
  • Comes after the 23-year-old's own father warned he will not live to 24
  • Family also said they tried to get Manziel into rehab but he checked out
  • He was pictured showing off dramatic weight loss in Vegas recently

From dancing alone in a ball pool at Coachella to allegedly punching a clubber in Las Vegas, it is no secret that Johnny Manziel's party-hard lifestyle is getting out of hand.

But friends of the troubled star have revealed that things are so out of control they fear he may die soon unless someone can get him help.

Anonymous sources close to the former Cleveland Browns quarterback told TMZ that his drug and alcohol consumption has reached worrying new levels.

Friends of disgraced former quarterback Johnny Manziel (pictured left in Las Vegas, and right at Coachella) have warned that he will die soon, saying he needs to get treatment for his drug and alcohol problems

Manziel is reported to be taking cocaine in front of people he barely knows as his habit gets out of control, with once source adding: 'He's in a horrible downward spiral.'

Another said bluntly: 'If he continues this way for much longer he will die.'

Friends say they did sit down with the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner for an intervention recently, but he became aggressive and refused to listen.

Even clubs in his favored party town of Vegas are starting to turn their backs on him following his alleged fight with a clubber over the weekend.

One doorman who has barred Manziel from his club described him as a 'good guy' but said letting him inside is too risky, branding him a 'f***ing mess'.

Manziel's own father warned back in February that if the 23-year-old does not get help, he will not live to see his 24th birthday which is on December 6.

Friends and family of Manziel say they have made repeated attempts toget him into rehab since the start of the year, but he ignored them to continue partying (pictured, center, with Pauly D from Jersey Shore, right)

Paul Manziel said his family has made two attempts to get the player into a rehab clinic so far this year, but he checked himself out again shortly after arriving.

Manziel did complete a three-month stint in rehab while at the Cleveland Browns, and reportedly sought counseling at college to deal with his drinking, but it seems to have had no effect.

After two tumultuous seasons with the Browns, in which Manziel largely disappointed on the field while continuing to stir controversy off of it, his demons have caught up with him this year.

So far he has been dropped by the Browns, ditched by two agents and then lost his multi-million dollar sponsorship deals.

The second agent, Drew Rosenhaus, dropped him days after taking him on as a client after Manziel ignored his demand for him to check into rehab.

Instead he made his way to Coachella, where he was pictured swaying around in a ball pool before sources say he partied with Kylie Jenner and Scott Disick.

He has also been forced to appear in court after a Grand Jury decided to indict him over allegations that he beat his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley during a drunken night out in Dallas.

Crowley claims Manziel dragged her around by the hair, slapped her so hard she lost hearing in one ear, and then kidnapped her before threatening to kill them both - charges he denies.

While out on bail for that alleged assault he was rumored to have punched someone else, a male clubber, while watching Drake perform at the opening night of Jewel Nightclub in Vegas's Aria hotel.

That is just one of the many parties he has been spotted at over recent weeks, also hitting up spots across Los Angeles, including three clubs on the same day he was indicted.

He has also put the post-rehab house he bought to help save himself back on the market for $400,000 despite buying it just a year ago.

And, in a sign of how far his star has fallen, Manziel was pictured watching this year's NFL draft in a bar in Columbus, Ohio, as quarterback Jared Goff went as top pick to the LA Rams.
