Elizabeth Warren VILIFIES Donald Trump labeling him 'a small, insecure money-grubber who doesn’t care about people' as she takes her attacks off Twitter and on the road

  • Elizabeth Warren went after Donald Trump speaking at an event for the Center for Popular Democracy on Tuesday night
  • Warren said Trump was 'a small, insecure money-grubber who doesn’t care who gets hurt, so long as he makes some money'
  • The comments came after Trump bragged about making money during the 2008 housing market collapse
  • 'She's one of the least successful Senators in the Senate. I borrowed $1 million dollars and turned it into a $10 billion-dollar company,' said Trump
  • Trump also went after Warren on Twitter and in a speech on Tuesday by mocking her claims that she is part Cherokee and calling her 'Pocahontas'
  • Warren's recent attacks on Trump have some thinking it could lead to Hillary Clinton selecting her as vice president if she wins the nomination

Elizabeth Warren is ramping up her attacks against Donald Trump and taking them off social media and on the road.

The Massachusetts senator went after Trump and comments he made on Tuesday about the gains he made during the 2008 housing meltdown, while accepting an award from the Center for Popular Democracy, a non-profit organization that is committed to economic justice.

At one point she referred to Trump as 'a small, insecure money-grubber who doesn’t care who gets hurt, so long as he makes some money'.

Trump responded to Warren's comments on Twitter Wednesday morning, writing; 'Goofy Senator Elizabeth Warren @elizabethforma has done less in the U.S. Senate than practically any other senator. All talk, no action!'

'Donald Trump was drooling over the idea of a housing meltdown because it meant he could buy up a bunch more property on the cheap,' said Warren in her speech.

'What kind of a man does that? Root for people to get thrown out on the street? Root for people to lose their jobs? Root for people to lose their pensions? Root for two little girls in Clark County, Nevada, to end up living in a van? What kind of a man does that?' she asked.

'I’ll tell you exactly what kind. A man who cares about no one but himself. A small, insecure money-grubber who doesn’t care who gets hurt, so long as he makes some money off it.'

She then added: 'What kind of man does that? A man who will never be president of the United States.'

Trump responded to Warren's attacks by saying: 'She's one of the least successful Senators in the U.S. Senate. I borrowed $1 million dollars and turned it into a great $10 billion-dollar company in a relatively short period of time.'

He also went after her during his speech in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Tuesday night, mocking her past claims that she is part Cherokee.

'You know, Hillary Clinton has somebody. Did you ever hear of Pocahontas? It's Pocahontas, Elizabeth Warren!' Trump told the crowd.

'She said she was an Indian! She said because her cheekbones were so high, she was an Indian! That she's Native American! ... We're getting wise to what's happening. It's a big scam.'

It was Hillary Clinton who first went after Trump on Tuesday, saying during a speech in front of union workers in Los Angeles: 'You know what happened in the great recession. Donald Trump said when he was talking about the possibility of a housing market crash before the great recession, he said, "I sort of hope that happens."'

She went on to say: 'He actually said he was hoping for the crash that caused hard-working families in California and across the country to lose their homes.'

In a statement to NBC News after Clinton's comments, Trump said: 'I am a businessman and I have made a lot of money in down markets, in some cases as much as I've made when markets are good.

'Frankly, this is the kind of thinking our country needs - understanding how to get a good result out of a very bad and sad situation.'

In her speech on Tuesday Warren also went after Trump's proposal to get rid of Dodd-Frank financial reforms that were put in place in order to keep Wall Street banks in check in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

'Donald Trump is worried about helping poor little Wall Street? Let me find the world’s smallest violin to play a sad, sad song,' said Warren.

Warren has spent weeks going after Trump now, mostly going after him on Twitter where she has labeled him a xenophobe and a racist.

In March, Warren labelled Trump a loser and claimed his own insecurities were visible in his 'petty bullying, attacks on women, cheap racism' and 'flagrant narcissism'.

Then, earlier this month, she wrote: '@realdonaldtrump is now the leader of the @GOP. It's real - he is one step away from the White House. Here's what else is real: @realdonaldtrump has built his campaign on racism, sexism, and xenophobia.

'There's more enthusiasm for @realdonaldtrump among leaders of the KKK than leaders of the political party he now controls. @realdonaldtrump incites supporters to violence, praises Putin, and is "cool with being called an authoritarian".

'@realdonaldtrump attacks vets like @senjohnmccain who were captured & puts our servicemembers at risk by cheerleading illegal torture.

'And @realdonaldtrump puts out out [sic] contradictory & nonsensical national security ideas one expert called "incoherent" & "truly bizarre".

'What happens next will test the character for all of us - Republican, Democrat and Independent. It will determine whether we move forward as one nation or splinter at the hands of one man's narcissim and divisiveness.

'I'm going to fight my heart out to make sure @realdonaldtrump's toxic stew of hatred and insecurity never reaches the White House.'

These attacks have many thinking that Warren might become a possible vice presidential pick should Clinton win the Democratic primary.
