Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins, was arrested after the shooting on Wednesday night and surveillance footage (right) appears to show him opening fire. The video shows a man who looks like the Brooklyn-based rapper bursting into a VIP room at the back of the venue and firing a handgun once before fleeing. A 33-year-old man died after being shot in the stomach at Irving Plaza concert hall, while a man survived after being shot in the chest and a 26-year-old woman took a bullet to the leg. Collins was also shot in the leg, with reports suggesting he may have accidentally shot himself in the chaos. Collins regularly tweeted about guns, and once said he would 'rather accidentally get a b***h pregnant than catch a gun charge'. T.I. released a statement lamenting the shooting, saying his 'heart is heavy'.

Saad Ali Thabit has been hailed a hero after discovering and then disarming the would-be bomber during a routine search at the checkpoint in the Kadhimiyah neighborhood of Baghdad. But during the life-and-death struggle, he somehow found the time to pose for his picture while holding the jihadi's arms up to stop him triggering his bomb and killing dozens of people. As he presses the militant against the wall, his colleagues rip off the militant's clothes to reveal an explosive belt (top right) which they cut off him and disarm (bottom right). He then forces the would-be bomber to the ground and ties his hands behind his back (inset).

This brainteaser is so mind-boggling that it has had hundreds of thousands of people scratching their heads. Antley Lamont Staten posted this brainteaser on Facebook and it's been shared more than 370,000 times and elicited more than 58,000 comments and reactions. Donald Trump on Thursday reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination for president after a handful of 'unbound' delegates pledged their support. He celebrated at a campaign stop in Bismarck, North Dakota - and crowed that Hillary Clinton could not 'close the deal' in the same way. He needed 1,237 to secure the nomination at the convention in Cleveland - and today Fargo, N.D., small business owner John Trandem declared his support and that made Trump the winner. Clinton is still fighting Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination but Trump has no Republican opponents.

After a Native American blogger shouted that he was being 'very offensive,' Trump said he was 'sorry about that' - and immediately called her 'Pocahontas' again. Trump clobbered Warren, rumored to be among Hillary Clinton's possible VP picks, as a do-nothing senator: 'She's a woman that's been very ineffective - other than she's got a big mouth.'

A man who kidnapped a 14-year-old girl when she accepted his offer of a ride home from school because her feet were sore, held her captive for nine months and raped her repeatedly at his trailer (pictured inset) acknowledged his crimes on Thursday and apologized. The girl, who was in court to hear his admission, thanked him for eventually letting her go. Nathaniel Kibby (pictured main) pleaded guilty to seven counts including kidnapping, aggravated felonious sex assault and criminal threatening. He was sentenced to 45 to 90 years in prison.

A man known only as Salticid who received a suspicious message on Tumblr from a potential spammer had some fun playing along in a conversation that becomes increasingly funny and surreal. The exchange, which was posted to Imgur, has been labelled 'a literary masterpiece' by users as he attempts to engage Stellaxo134 in a conversation about mortality despite her best attempts to lure him into signing up to a site for a naked webcam show.

A mugshot of Arkansas woman Sarah Seawright is sending Twitter into meltdown mode. Her flawless mugshot (left) was taken in April after she was arrested for failure to appear in court in connection to a 2014 arrest for a careless driving charge. As soon as the internet picked up on Seawright's mugshot, a Twitter frenzy kicked up. She is being referred to on social media as #PrisonBae and Seawright seems to be taking notice of her new-found internet infamy. It's unclear if Seawright (pictured, right) will have a future in the modeling world like internet superstar Jeremy Meeks received after his mugshot caused a Twitter meltdown in 2014.

In an adorable effort to show she wants some of the love showered on her new sibling, Yoga the Vizsla is caught on video smooching her owner every time he kisses his infant son's face. The sweet clip shows the dad as he holds his son, Tymon, in his lap while the dog is sat nearby on the couch. As the owner bends down and kisses his baby boy on the mouth, Yoga is seen simultaneously licking the side of her owner's face. The video was filmed in Warsaw, Poland.

Oscar Carl Olaf was dressed in a traditional christening gown as he was carried into the Royal Chapel in Stockholm by Crown Princess Mary, 38. Her eldest daughter Princess Estelle, four, was the spitting image of her mother dressed in a dainty white dress with a miniature version of her mother's fascinator fastened to her hair. Prince Daniel of Sweden looked every bit the proud father as he lead his daughter into the chapel during the special occasion this morning.

The intense footage shows Jimmy Severs approaching the man, who was apparently holding a sign while panhandling across the street from where the tattoo artist works in Vancouver, Washington. In the video, Severs becomes outraged as the man gets into an expensive Toyota pick-up truck, which the video maker claims was manufactured in 2014. The footage was posted to Facebook where it quickly went viral. Severs later told a local news site that his video should serve as a warning to unsuspecting people.

John Quinn, pictured left before the accident, was just four years old when he was caught up in the blaze in a shed at his family home in Millington, Tennessee in November 2003 and had to be rescued by his older sister Leah, inset. He suffered 95 per cent burns to his body, right, and had to spend a year in hospital. Since then John has undergone 87 operations, overcome anorexia by getting into bodybuilding as well as having to endure taunts from cruel bullies calling him Freddie Krueger.

When you come upon an ocean bay that has features known as 'Toilet Bowl' and 'Witch's Brew', you may not envisage a welcoming tropical oasis. But Hawaii's Hanauma Bay, nestled inside a breached volcanic cone on the southeastern shore of Oahu, has some of the state's calmest waters, most pristine beaches and world-renowned snorkeling over coral reefs that teem with colorful fish. For the second year in a row, a beach in Hawaii has been selected as the best beach in America by a Florida professor who's made a career ranking and studying beaches around the country. This year's top spot goes to Hanauma Bay, a picturesque nature reserve with gin-clear, turquoise water and abundant sea life. Florida International University professor Stephen Leatherman, also known as Dr. Beach, uses about 50 criteria to assess and rank beaches across the country. An Anne Arundel County teen lived the dream for millions of young men when he took a professional cheerleader to his high school prom on Saturday. Back in March, Stephen Bieber, 17, of Old Mill High School commented on the Instagram page of Christa Aiken, a cheerleader for the Washington Redskins, asking, '@dcfitchick 100% serious, how many retweets I gotta get on Twitter for you to go to prom with me? 10,000 enough? Please.' She told him that if he could crack 10,000 he'd get the date - and that's exactly what he did, with a little help from a handful of NFL pros, Fox 5 reported.

The incident, at a marble quarry close to the city of Murmansk in Russia's north-western Murmansk Oblast region, was caught on video. The clip begins with the girl, 19-year-old Maryana, being cheered by her friends as she prepares to leap from a cliff top (left) platform. The bungee cord is attached to another line across a gorge so that jumpers cross from side-to-side while simultaneously bouncing up-and-down. Maryana's jump seems to be going to plan as she plunges towards the river below (centre) before being pulled back up by the cord at the last second. But then she shoots across the gorge too fast and slams into the rocks on the other side (right).

The robot's purpose will be to 'replace the person in the battle or in emergency areas where there is a risk of explosion, fire, high background radiation, or other conditions that are harmful to humans'. Designed by Russia's Foundation for Advanced Studies, Ivan is currently remote controlled by an operator (from up to several miles away) wearing a special suit, which contains sensors in the neck, hands and shoulders. A diver has plunged to the deepest depths to capture these stunning snaps of an ancient Mayan sinkhole. The deep crater, in the heart of the Mayan forest in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, is believed to be the site of an ancient Mayan burial ground - the eerie cavern is filled with bones and fossils. The spectacular pictures were taken by French wildlife and underwater photographer Fabrice Guerin, during a trip to find out more about the fascinating sinkhole.

Sarah Wisely, 22, believed to be from Pennsylvania, has told of her determination to beat illness after being septic more than 20 times in three years. Sarah, pictured inset in hospital, spoke out as she starred in a stunning photo shoot for Free People, pictured left and right. Doctors told her she was terminally ill and suggested she move into a hospice but she told them 'I'm not done here yet' and vowed to fight on.

Leila, Liina and Lily Luik (pictured l-r top right), from Estonia, are believed to be the first identical triplets to compete against each other in the Games's 120-year history. The sisters, from the southern Estonian university town of Tartu, aged 30, have set up a Facebook page called 'Trio to Rio' to gather supporters in the run up to their 26.2-mile race. Incredibly the three siblings (pictured left and bottom right training) only took up serious distance running six years ago - when they were 24 years old.

One of the greatest passenger ships ever built, RMS Queen Mary left Southampton on 27 May 1936 en route to New York, the first of many transatlantic crossings that attracted the likes of Winston Churchill, John F Kennedy, Walt Disney, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Bob Hope and many other famous guests. The Art Deco liner was the largest and fastest passenger ship in the world when it launched, with three classes of cabins, two indoor swimming pools and opulent dining rooms and bars for first class passengers. The historic ship was retired in 1967 and has been preserved as a tourist attraction in Long Beach, California.

A group of professional escorts based across the US have told how they earn as much as $20,000 to act as 'girlfriends' for men performing tasks such as watching Star Wars and playing hide-and-seek, as well as having sex. One woman said she charges $500 to go for drinks with men, while another Nevada-based woman, named only as Allissa, pictured far right and far left, said men regularly book her for whole weeks at a time. She said she has also been expected to go for walks and go to the spa with clients. Jessica Brighton, pictured center, used to be an escort and now works as a relationship coach.

The unidentified subway passenger travelling to Sunset Park, Brooklyn, cannot contain his anger. He even follows the alleged 'thief' up out to the street to continue his expletive laden rant. His video of the woman does not confirm that she had definitely taken his money, but her and other passengers' reactions appear to corroborate his account. The woman swears at the man during the confrontation, but refuses to be drawn into a massive argument.

A home video shows Myla I'Anson, from Nottingham, kissing and hugging the TV screen as she watches her unborn sibling writhing around in her mother's womb. 'Oh darling, it's OK... You're going to see her soon,' Myla's mother, Carly Tansley, says from behind the camera in a bid to comfort the toddler. Wiping tears from her eyes, Myla sobs: 'But I love her so much.' The adorable video, which was uploaded to Facebook on Wednesday, has since gone viral after being watched more than 55,000 times.

Some girls her age might be busy juggling schoolwork with discovering beauty products and boys. But Lara Wirth, 16, from Melbourne, has a much more impressive make-up hobby than most. The self-taught special effects make-up and body artist spends days transforming herself into monsters, reptiles and creative characters -  to the tune of 33,000 Instagram followers and numerous competition wins. Her favourite creation is her 'Monster' (top left), complete with giant front teeth and a blue face.

A couple has made an adorable stop motion video showing the evolution of a pregnancy, including a guest appearance from their dog, and a cute surprise at the end. Shani Maivar Tamarkin, and her husband Matan Tamarkin made the video over the course of Mrs Tamarkin's pregnancy. At the end of the clip Mr Tamarkin shoots a novelty arrow at his wife's stomach and their new son appears.

Australian native Bobby-Jo Clow, 33, has been taking pictures of beautiful elephants since 2004, when she was left mesmerised after seeing her first wild elephant in Kenya. Since then, she has made regular pilgrimages to southern and eastern Africa to capture the stunning creatures on camera in their natural habitat. Now, Bobby-Jo has narrowed down her thousands of images to just 200, and is planning to create a book of her beautiful pictures called Reflections of Elephants.
