But actress Lizzy Caplan, 33, was a far cry from seductress Virginia Johnson on Thursday, looking ladylike in a yellow dress as she left The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in New York.

The California girl stopped by the CBS chat show, where she made the hilarious revelation that she named her cat after the 52-year-old TV host.

The brunette beauty, who is currently filming alongside Brad Pitt in World War II drama Allied, oozed summer vibes with her vibrant style choice in the Big Apple. 

The former True Blood actress displayed her slim figure, wearing a midi canary yellow dress with nude panelling and zip detail on the back.

Accessorising her fashionable outfit, Lizzy opted for simple gold drop earrings, dainty rings as well as black and gold platform sandals.

Adding a dramatic edge to finish her look, the US star rocked a bold statement red lip.

Speaking on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, The Interview actress revealed that he had been the inspiration for her pet's new name, confessing: ‘My cat is actually called Colbert.’

Such a big fan of the US talk show host, the former New Girl star revealed that she named the cat 13 years ago when she first watched him as a correspondent on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart because it was ‘a cool thing to do’ at the time.

Although talking about her pet, the actress threw 'unintentional shade' at British band Coldplay when discussing other possible names for her cat.

Being blunt, Lizzy said when Stephen was welcomed onto The Colbert Report he suddenly became uncool amongst her friends and she felt the backlash for naming her pet after someone famous.

'Then you got the Colbert Report,' she explained. 'Like my street cred took a dip immediately.'

‘I may as well name him Coldplay at this point... Nothing against Coldplay but I’m not naming my cat Coldplay.’

Despite shunning the renowned pop act, the 33-year-old did admit she would be open to naming her cat after English rock band Radiohead.

Still best-loved for her role as Janis Ian in cult movie, Mean Girls, the TV star - who is dating actor Tom Riley - has since carved out a name for herself away from the teen movie scene.

Taking on more adult roles, the LA native is set to next star in Now You See Me 2 alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and Sir Michael Caine.

The sequel to the successful flick Now You See Me, out July 4, will follow the Four Horsemen from the previous movie, who are recruited by a tech guru to pull off an impossible heist.
