Wonder Years star Jason Hervey 'arrested for alleged DUI and spends weekend in jail'

Jason Hervey reportedly spent two days in jail after being arrested over an alleged DUI.

The 44-year-old actor was locked up in Tennessee after being taken into custody back in January 2015 according to a Thursday report from People.

He was arrested over an alleged DUI, alleged possession of a handgun while under the influence and alleged violation of implied consent for refusing a blood test, Williamson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sharon Puckett told the weekly.

The former star of The Wonder Years told TMZ that he had taken a prescription Ambien before getting behind the wheel to run an errand.

According to the gossip site, which was first to report the news, Hervey maintains that he had not been drinking.

Their Thursday report says that the actor had spent 48 hours behind bars over the weekend for the DUI charge but the weapon charge was dropped.

Hervey continued to be open with the publication as he told them that he had a permit for the handgun in his truck. 

According to their law enforcement sources, the actor had missed a field sobriety test.

Then when they searched his vehicle they found the aforementioned loaded handgun which he had a permit for.

The arrest went unnoticed for nearly a year-and-a-half but came out after her served two whole days in jail for the misdemeanor.

Hervey made his name as part of the family drama The Wonder Years, which aired for six seasons from 1988 to 1993.

He portrayed Wayne Arnold, who was older brother to protagonist of the programme Kevin, in the series set in the 1960s and 1970s.

Back in May of 2014, he reunited with the cast of the beloved show as they gathered for interviews for extras on The Wonder Years: The Complete Series DVD collection.

He joined main stars Danica McKellar and Fred Savage, who played his brother on the show, along with other cast mates Alley Mills, Olivia d'Abo and Josh Saviano as they posted pictures on social media of their reunion.

The entire crew, who have not worked together for over 20 years, looked happy to be in the same room with each other. 

Jason has not done done any credited live acting in over a decade-and-a-half and last did voice work on the Justice League cartoon back in 2004. 

He has acted as an executive producer in more recent years including for Nickelodeon series See Dad Run and reality show Hardcore Pawn: Chicago.
