Patrick Schwarzenegger looked gym ready on Thursday as he joined his girlfriend Abby Champion for an intense workout in Los Angeles.

The 22-year-old actor wore a pair of black leggings and some army shorts over the top as he slung on a grey sweat top for the afternoon.

Abby was dressed ready for action in a pair of very small black gym shorts, a white sports bra and a pair of Puma sneakers.

She tied her long blonde hair into a ponytail on top of her head as her boyfriend helped her up from the ground so they could begin their session.

At one point Patrick was seen doing some stretches ahead of the workout as he got into the zone by listening to music with some earphones. 

After working up a sweat, the loved up pair headed to lunch with Patrick's mother Maria Shriver.

No doubt they both worked up an appetite as they were all seen enjoying platefuls of food at the little eatery.

Patrick - who is the son of action star and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver - recently signed on to star in a new fantasy romance Undying.

The film is about a ghost who must help his girlfriend recover from the pain of his loss, reported Deadline Hollywood.

The busy actor also recently graduated from The University of Southern California, and his parents reunited five years after their split to help celebrate his achievement.

Patrick posted an Instagram picture with Arnold and Maria by his side, writing: 'Wouldn't be anywhere without these two. Thank you for everything and love yah both.'

And Abby, who was already back in Alabama, revealed her sadness at missing her boyfriend's milestone occasion.

'Wish I could be there,' she wrote.
