Queen Mary celebrates 80th anniversary of maiden voyage

The Art Deco liner was the largest and fastest passenger ship in the world when it launched, with three classes of cabins, two indoor swimming pools and opulent dining rooms and bars for first class passengers. The historic ship was retired in 1967 and has been preserved as a tourist attraction in Long Beach, California.

In the first penalty of its kind in Spain, the tourist had headed to El Cura beach in Torrevieja, Costa Blanca early in the morning and planted an umbrella in the sand but was fined for his actions.

Princess Diana's childhood home Althorp opens to overnight guests

Princess Diana's brother, Earl Charles Spencer, has opened the sprawling Althorp estate, where she is interred on an island, to support the Whole Child International charity founded by his wife. Guests will be able to spend the weekend at the Grade I-listed Althorp estate, near Northampton, for approximately £25,000 ($40,000) per couple or £175,000 ($250,000) for a party of up to 18. Guests can stay in the same bedroom where Diana slept before she married Prince Charles in 1981.

Nature lover spends a decade capturing photographs of African elephants in the wild

Australian native Bobby-Jo Clow, 33, has been taking pictures of beautiful elephants since 2004, when she was left mesmerised after seeing her first wild elephant in Kenya. Since then, she has made regular pilgrimages to southern and eastern Africa to capture the stunning creatures on camera in their natural habitat. Now, Bobby-Jo has narrowed down her thousands of images to just 200, and is planning to create a book of her beautiful pictures called Reflections of Elephants.
