They marked their daughter Edie's first birthday this month - but this is thought to be their first romantic holiday since becoming parents.

So it's little surprise that Keira Knightley and husband James Righton are enjoying reconnecting this week as they soak up the sights in beautiful Venice.

The happy couple looked positively giddy as they were spotted on a water taxi on Thursday, taking in the surroundings of Italy by boat.

Keira spent last weekend soaking up the sights and culture of Rome, even taking in a spot of opera, but the romance continued as she and her husband James headed north to Venice.

They were exploring the province in the best way they knew how, and Keira couldn't have looked more content.

She beamed as she took a prime spot on a gorgeous boat, spending a relaxed day date with the father of her child.

Later that evening, the Oscar-nominated actress looked stunning in an intricate lace dress as she joined select VIPs at the Erdem and MyTheresa.com dinner at the Aman Venice.

The pair enjoyed a sunny evening at the 16th century palazzo of Aman Venice, with stunning private gardens set on the Grand Canal.

Mother-of-one Keira, 31, wore a prairie-esque grey, black and blue dress from the Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, which she teamed with a pair of silver peep-toe heels.

Her husband, former Klaxons keyboardist James, 32, looked dapper in a blue suit and white shirt.

Keira Knightley was a vision in red when donned a grecian inspired Valentino dress for the designer's opera in Rome earlier this week. And for a VIP dinner in Venice, Keira selected a frock from Erdem's Fall 2016 collection.

The gorgeous midi length dress was covered in lace and the skirt and sleeves had sheer panels that showed just a hint of skin. The British beauty teamed it with a pair of silver open toe shoes to finish off the look.

The sheer lace motif is still going strong and we're feeling this Victorian inspired take on the trend. The high neckline, long sleeves and ankle grazing hemline give the look an air of modesty and sophistication and this will be at the top of our wish list next season when it becomes available.

Also in attendance at the #mytxerdem event were British TV presenter Alexa Chung, Erdem designer Erdem Moralioglu and MyTheresa.com president Michael Kliger.

While Keira has long been a fan of British brand Erdem and often wears its designs on the red carpet, her husband James was invited to perform at the event.

Keira and James have spent the past week in Italy and have been making most of their time sight-seeing in between functions.

On Sunday night, they joined a host of stars at the premiere of Sofia Coppola's La Traviata at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome.

Ahead of their night of music, the couple were spotted visiting the Basilica of Santa Maria, a church dating back to the 4th century in the Roman area of Trastevere.

It is believed the couple aren't travelling with their one-year-old daughter Edie.
