'I couldn’t keep the cat': Demi Lovato confesses she gave back her furless feline after just one day due to allergies

'I actually couldn’t keep the cat, I had to give it back the next day because I’m allergic,' Demi explained.

Even she was surprised at the adverse physical effects - the sneezing, the swelling - that just snuggling the furless feline brought on.

The singer told ET: 'I thought I wouldn’t be because it didn’t have any hair.'

Demi also spoke about the pet she still has and adores, her pup Batman.

She said he'll accompany her when she goes on the road with Nick Jonas on their Future Now Tour commencing June 29.

'He will,' confirmed Demi, who added that she wants to give the crowds 'an experience rather than just a concert. Down to the smell of the arena, we want to make it incredible for our fans.'

Demi's return of Hairy-ette certainly came as a surprise after she insisted that she was keeping the cute kitty in spite of the watery eyes she was causing.

On April 26, Demi debuted a new kitten on social media and proudly presented the hairless Sphynx to her fans.

'Meet my new baby,' the Confident hit-maker gushed.

Lovato shared a series of sweet videos snuggling with the tiny kitty and wrote: 'Already in love with each other.'

While still keeping a bit of distance, the little black pup slept near Lovato's head on top of a pillow while the tiny cat cosied up underneath her shoulder.

The Snapchat cat videos came the day after Demi made headlines for another social media post.

In a joint statement with her co-headlining Future Now tour partner, Nick Jonas, the pair decided to cancel the North Carolina leg of their upcoming shows.

The singers stated: 'North Carolina's discriminatory HB2 law is extremely disappointing, and it takes away some of the LGBT community's most basic rights and protections.'

'RepealHB2,' the duo captioned alongside their statements as they were scheduled to perform in Charlotte on June 30 and Raleigh on July 2.

The state's Republican governor, Pat McCrory, signed the law last month which eliminates anti-discrimination protections for transgender people.

The most controversial provision requires individuals to use restrooms corresponding to the gender listed on their birth certificates, not to the gender they identify with.

This forces transgender women to use men's restrooms and transgender men to use women's restrooms.

'One of our goals for the tour has always been to create an atmosphere where every single attendee feels equal, included, and accepted for who they are,' Demi and Nick's statement added.

Adding: 'But we will not allow this to stop us from continuing to make progress for equality and acceptance.'

'We know the cancellation of these shows is disappointing to our fans, but we trust that you will stand united with us against this hateful law.'
