And Rihanna made a statement once again on Thursday as she picked up a coffee in New York City before heading to the recording studio.

The 28-year-old was wearing a bright green tutu dress which looked as though it could have been a Tinker Bell costume.

Rihanna showed off her long and slender legs in the Peter Pan inspired party frock, which she teamed with white heeled sandals that were adorned with colourful pompoms.

The singer displayed a gold bikini top underneath the tutu dress, and flashed the 'never a failure, always a lesson' tattoo written backwards on her chest.

Rihanna also sported a silver chain necklace and carried a matching metallic handbag.

The Work hit-maker pulled her dark locks into a sleek ponytail and finished off her unusual look for the evening with dewy make-up.

Rihanna was spotted grabbing an iced coffee from Starbucks and then made her way to the studio.

The previous day, the first images of her soon-to-be released sunglasses collaboration with Dior were unveiled.

The futuristic eyewear collection, simply called Rihanna, was inspired by LeVar Burton's character Geordi La Forge from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Her ensemble on Thursday was far more reserved than the one she wore on Wednesday evening, which consisted of a see-through green lace dress with no bra and black knickers underneath.

Meanwhile earlier this week Rihanna partied and Up And Down nightclub alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

The pair arrived separately but within 10 minutes of each other, and both stayed out until 3am.

In January, Rihanna and Leonardo were seen partying in Paris together, and eyewitnesses allegedly saw them kissing.

They were first linked last year, but the singer shot down rumours that they were romantically involved in March 2015.

'I’m so busy right now that I just don’t have a lot of time to offer to a man so it wouldn’t even be fair to be thinking of pulling somebody else into this life,' she told Hello! magazine.

'But if I did, he would have to be man enough to live with my schedule and not get scared.'
