You don't do that in London! David Beckham drives his mud soaked Land Rover through the traffic packed capital

He's famed for his fancy footwork on the pitch, but of late he's been more at home in a four-by-four than out on the field.

Flouting the big city etiquette of driving a clean and shiny motor, David Beckham seemed intent on bringing a bit of the country back to the town when he went for a drive in London on Thursday.

The 41-year-old father-of-four was also sporting a beard, adding to his laid back country look as he headed through the busy streets.

The former football favourite wore a marl grey T-shirt, revealing his ever growing collection of charcteristic inkings.

The Land Rover Defender 110 had clearly been driven off-road, with tell-tale splashes of mud along the front door and across the wing mirror.

And it's not just his choice of vehicle that points towards David's aspirations to become a country gent.

A keen dog-lover, the Beckham family own four pet pooches, a Shar-pei pooch named Barnaby, two bulldogs called Coco and Scarlet and their newest edition, Olive the cocker spaniel.

David is also a big fan of the rural fashion staples of a flat cap and Barbour jacket.

The former Manchester United player could be taking note from his long-time pal and The Man from U.N.C.L.E director Guy Ritchie who resides in a stunning stately mansion in Wiltshire.

It's believed David and Victoria could already the proud owners of the Grade II-listed country estate Abbotswood Estate near Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswolds.

According to reports in last year, the couple were looking at the most expensive country home in the UK, which is 24 times bigger than the average house.

The mansion boasts 10 bedrooms and six bathrooms, while there are 13 out buildings within the grounds.
