Amber Heard is pictured smiling hours after Johnny Depp's 'iPhone attack'

The actress, 30, and her lawyer Samantha Spector appeared at the Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles on Friday (top right) where she filed for a domestic violence restraining order from Johnny Depp. In her declaration of petition for a restraining order, seen by MailOnline, Heard said: 'Johnny has a long-held and widely acknowledged public and private history of drug and alcohol abuse. He has a short fuse. He is often paranoid and his temper is exceptionally scary for me as it has proven many times to be physically dangerous and/or life threatening to me.' Last Saturday, during a heated row, Heard said an 'inebriated and high' Depp had grabbed her cellphone, 'wound up his arm like a baseball pitcher and threw the cell phone at me striking my cheek and eye with great force,' the court filing states. But police officers found 'no evidence of any crime', despite Heard appearing bruised in a picture she claims was taken after the alleged attack. The next day Heard was pictured smiling with friends (main image). The actresses' hair covered the areas of her face which appeared to have been bruised the day before. The photograph was posted on Instagram by British TV show host Amanda de Cadenet on Monday and Heard was tagged in it. But it has since been deleted.

Portugal must have been a welcome sight for the three-time Oscar nominee - turning 53 next month - whose 30-year-old bride of 15 months accused him of throwing an iPhone at her face last Saturday

Christi Dembrowski, 55, Depp's sister and the woman who runs his production company is the first member of his inner circle to speak in the wake of Amber Heard ending their 15-month marriage.

How Amber Heard 'lived in fear' of Johnny Depp

In court documents, where she details the alleged violence during their 15-month marriage, Heard said she 'lived in fear' of the Pirates of the Caribbean star and the idea he could return to the L.A. condominium they shared to 'terrorize me physically and emotionally.' In the papers she said she was attacked by Depp last Saturday, when he allegedly threw an iPhone off her face. She took a selfie of the bruises she claims were as a result of the attack (left), which shows inflammation and redness on her right cheek around her eye. Heard looked stoic as she left the courthouse on Friday, dressed down in a black dress and wearing no make-up. The bruise that she alleges was the result of Depp's attack could still be seen on her face (right), but the mark appears to be much lower down on her cheek than one she filed as evidence of abuse. It is not clear whether the bruise seen on her face on Friday was a result of last Saturday's attack.

Shock findings of undercover prisoners who lived in Clark County Jail for TWO MONTHS

Homemade drugs, violent attacks over food and rampant gay prostitution have been exposed at one of America's toughest jails after seven people went in undercover as prisoners. The brave civilians posed as inmates for a documentary as they spent two months behind bars alongside dangerous thugs and drug dealers at Clark County Jail in Jefferson, Indiana. The volunteers were sent in with fake identities and were treated like prisoners for the full two months, with none of the inmates and hardly any of the jail's staff knowing they were not convicts. The undercover prisoners discovered that drug use was huge inside the jail. With illegal substances harder to get hold of, the inmates had taken to making their own homemade highs, including one called 'crack stick' (top left). The undercover prisoners also found that convicts would get into the most trivial of fights (bottom right), with one violent row (top right) breaking out after a man failed to give another his hash brown as promised. Gay prostitution was rife in the male section of the jail, with one inmate offering himself to others in exchange for items from the commissary (bottom left).

Sunday will be mostly dry with some warm sunshine before torrential rain threatens to spoil the fun on Bank Holiday Monday.

French police punch woman in face as riots spread across country

This is the shocking moment a middle-aged woman was aggressively shoved and thrown to the floor by a policeman amid protests in France over laws that may end 35-hour working week. Her head is violently thrown back as she is rammed against a railing before falling to the tarmac. The man filming rushes forward to stop the awful behaviour but the policeman is already striding off, disinterested in the woman's state. The bystander helps the visibly distressed woman up as she yells after the officer. This is just one of the disturbing scenes that have been unfolding cross the country this week due to mass strikes in response to proposed labour law reforms. These would end legal protection of a 35-hour week currently enjoyed by French workers, and could make it easier to hire and fire people.

Economic migrants are still trying to reach Europe despite rising numbers at borders

For more than 15 years now, I have reported on the steady flow of migrants heading for Europe. In countries across the Continent, I have spoken to those who have travelled thousands of miles, and never ceased to be amazed by their resilience and determination to find a better life. More than a thousand refugees of sub-Saharan origin arrived in Salerno from the Channel of Sicily (main image) this week after on Wednesday several migrants drowned after a heavily overcrowded boat they were sailing on overturned (inset image).

Bobby the cocker spaniel is rescued after falling down well for two WEEKS

Adorable Bobby's barks and whines were eventually heard by two farmers and an emergency team was scrambled to rescue him after he fell down a 60ft well in Gimingham, Norfolk (main picture). He was hauled to safety (top right and bottom right) and wagged his tail in delight as he was reunited with his delighted owner, Adrian Phillips. John Linden, watch manager with the Dereham urban search and rescue team, a specialist crew with the Norfolk fire service, said it was amazing the pooch had survived so well in the conditions. He said: 'It is just incredible to think that this dog has been missing for two weeks and possibly has been down that well for all that time. We have had a lot of rain so he must have been surviving off the water, and dogs eat mud and all sorts. But for a dog that had been down there that long it is incredible.'
