Heading back to her roots! Singer Dannii Minogue will perform a surprise show in Melbourne next month... her first home town gig in 18 YEARS

She hasn’t played in her home town of Melbourne for 18 years, but Dannii Minogue will next month be sharing the stage with drag queens in a secret club show.

St Kilda gay club, GH Hotel, confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the 47-year-old singer would perform as part of a a four-hour event on June 7.

The popular venue, famous for its bizarre stage acts and army of drag queens, had promoted the night as including ‘an international recording artist’, with a bargain ticket cost of $35.

Dannii on Saturday added fuel to the now-confirmed rumours it could be her by re-posting the venue’s teaser poster on her Instagram.

The poster featured the words ‘Dirty Hands I Demand’, which is a line from Dannii’s 2003 hit Put The Needle On It, along with very Minogue-esque lips that resemble the start of the video clip.

Another poster for the event, and the caption to it on the GH Facebook page, also included ‘All my freaks say’ which is the previous line in the song.

The singer’s management did not respond to a request for comment.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, sources said she was looking for a venue for a low-key warm up show before she opened for Culture Club at Rod Laver Arena on June 10.

She had assembled a full live band and been in rehearsals for the past month.

While it has been almost two decades since she performed in Melbourne, Dannii said last month that she quit X Factor to rejuvenate her music career and see her family more.

'I've put a hold on TV and stuff that would take me away from being at home,' she told TV Week. 'My son starting school is something I would never get to do again. I wanted to be present and be a part of it with him, and enjoy it.'

Dannii again showed the importance of her family later on Saturday when she posted a loving tribute to her ‘super sister’ Kylie for her 48th birthday.

‘Happy birthday to a super star. Super star of music, super star of strength, and the most super sister ever,’ she wrote on Instagram next to a photo of the two of them.

‘Congratulations for every achievement: music, film, fashion, charity & personal strength. I love you. Danielle x.’
