Reality star O'Neal McKnight and his co-star wife Miriam Sternoff welcomed a baby girl on Friday.

The event was both blessed and bittersweet as their new daughter was born on the same day as O'Neal's late mother. 

The happy couple welcomed Madeleine Grace McKnight at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles in the early hours of Friday morning, and the proud papa couldn't wait to share the news.

The reality star took to Instagram to post a sweet snap of baby Madeleine along with the loving caption: 'We are overwhelmed with joy! I want to thank everyone for the kind words and blessings that people have been sending our way.

'I watched my daughter enter the world on my late mothers birthday which made today super special. 

'My heart is filled with so much love.Ladies and Gentlemen introducing Madeleine Grace Mcknight aka Maddie,' he wrote.

A source told US Weekly: 'It was a very emotional ordeal for O'Neal. His late mother Gracie Mae McKnight was born on the same day.'

They continued: 'Now his daughter shares the same birthday as his mom.'

The show follows Jewish stylist Miriam and southern and African-American comedian O'Neal as they navigate their way through the relationship.

It shows how their very different worlds collide as their friends and family prepare for the couple's nuptials.

It also follows O'Neal's conversion to Judaism and their future as husband and wife together.

He is converting to her faith as he wants to be accepted by his future wife's mother, Nancy, who wants her future grandchildren to be raised Jewish.

All the while, Miriam is trying to incorporate O'Neal's southern upbringing and traditions into her life.
