EXCLUSIVE 'I would have to pick my Queen': Game Of Thrones star Thor Björnsson pledges his loyalty to House Lannister as rulers of the Seven Kingdoms

It's one of the hottest questions on the lips of millions of viewers worldwide: just who will end up on the Iron Throne?

And though Game Of Thrones actor Thor Björnsson, who plays the formidable Mountain, can't give away any spoilers, he knows who he would like to see last standing. 

Speaking with Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday, the 27-year-old said his loyalty to House Lannister goes beyond his fictional role by Cersei's side and into reality.

'I would have to pick my Queen,' he said of his favourite character, who is played by British actress Lena Heady.

'I have to stay loyal to the Lannisters.'

The Icelandic native, who became the World's Strongest Viking by beating a 1000-year-old weightlifting record in 2015, is the third actor to play The Mountain, aka Gregor Clegane.

While filming in his home country, Thor was scouted at a local strongman competition for his imposing stature, standing at 6ft 9ins and weighing in at a muscular 179kg.

'It worked out well,' he said. 

'Obviously my character has a lot of physical work to do, so I have to be able to move around a lot.'

Such is his strength that he is rumoured to be the only person on the Game Of Thrones set who can lift the enormous sword he carries with him. 

When asked if the rumour was true, he replied coyly: 'Well, I've never seen anyone else lift it.'
