Signposts to EU information and services

The EU is one of the largest publishers of online information in the world and the hunt for information can seem complex. Every day a huge range of information goes online, including legislation, statistics, press releases, policy reports and more.

All EU institutions and agencies have their own websites. EU offices in each of the member countries and in countries around the world also have their own sites. Other online services address a range of topics, from finding a company’s VAT number to ordering EU publications and helping people looking for jobs abroad.

On this site we try to provide signposts to this information. We have tried to categorise this information in a clear way and we have provided descriptions of what you can expect to find behind each link.

What happens to user feedback?

Comments we receive from our website users are translated, read and analysed on a weekly basis. We constantly adjust the site according to your feedback.

We receive feedback from users of the European Union website in four ways:

• Help us Improve form – we receive up to 3 000 comments through this form every week.
• Survey - we ask 1 in every 20 visitors who enter the site a number of short questions.
• Contact form - a feedback form where people can email us and receive a reply.
• User testing – we hold regular user testing on our website to get feedback on the 'live site' or on draft pages and sections we are working on. We also use other user research techniques such as field studies, paper prototyping and carding sorting.

All the comments and suggestions we receive are translated (machine translation) into languages we can read and then we analyse them. We look for recurring problems and make constant changes. This might mean adding a link, changing a link description or finding other ways of helping people to the information they are looking for.

All comments received are anonymous and we do not keep data on people using the website or sending feedback.

Visitors to our site

Feedback provided by our visitors, combined with our analytics tool, helps us to learn who comes to our site and what they are looking for. In 2014, an average of 1.7 million people visited the EUROPA website each month, with 25% coming from outside the EU. Survey respondents told us that they came mostly on a professional basis, and had a high level of satisfaction with the site.
