She is known to push fashion boundaries with her edgy style.

Yet Madonna took things to new extremes when she was seen taking two of her children, Lourdes Leon and Rocco Ritchie to a Broadway show, Sleep No More, in New York City on Tuesday.

While the 57-year-old songstress was relatively low-key in her ensemble, she made a bizarre sartorial choice as she and her brood sporting eery masks as they departed the theatre - masks required for audience members to sport.

Costumes on! Probably the most unusual thing about her outfit was the white mask she wore on her face, which is one of the signature masks used in the play

Madonna went for a funky look yet kept herself relatively covered up in a T-shirt emblazoned with a woman's face paired with wide-leg jeans.

She added an interesting flare to the look with a green silk bomber jacket, yet her interesting choice was overshadowed no doubt by her mask.

Along with the rest of the clan, Madonna sported a white mask with a pointed base and sculpted cheekbones and a protruding nose.

He also looked laid back as he wore a pair of black trousers with small white prints on them and also a purple and white striped T-shirt yet he made sure to accessorize with a cap on his head, as well as the white mask.

Sleep No More is set in a dimly-lit, 1930s-era establishment called the McKittrick Hotel and is an adapted the story of Macbeth.

Audience members are required to wear the white masks at all times whilst also remaining still and silent for the entirety of the play - yet Madonna and crew opted to keep her mask in place after the show.

Earlier in the day, Lourdes was seen out and about in Manhattan.

The 19-year-old was seen wearing a fitted little black dress that showed off her slender physique and lithe legs.

She accessorized with a silver choker and a pair of black trainers and black socks.

The raven haired beauty tied her long locks back as she was seen carrying a Capezio bag from the active wear, dance shop.

Meanwhile, at the end of last year Madonna and her ex-husband Guy Ritchie got into a legal battle over their son Rocco.

Their custody battle erupted in December when it was revealed that Rocco was refusing to fly home to be with his mother.

Madonna appeared in New York Supreme Court just days before Christmas where she revealed that her son wanted to stay with his father in London despite her insistence that he return to Manhattan.

The judge in the case ruled that Rocco must return to the United States by the following month.

At the same time, Madonna filed an order in London under international child abduction laws asking that Rocco return home.

Madonna has three other children, 10-year-old Mercy James, 10-year-old David Banda Mwale Ciccone Ritchie and 19-year-old Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon.
