  • A sprawling beachfront mansion popular with A-listers and billionaires has gone on sale in Barbados.

Prince Harry, Princess Margaret, Mark Wahlberg, Rihanna, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Bruce Willis, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Sting and Hugh Grant have all retreated from the prying eyes of the paparazzi at Cove Spring House.

And to add to its star credentials, it was the sanctuary for Simon Cowell and his semi-finalists on the X Factor in 2010.

    What’s the home like?

Designed using coral stone, Cove Spring House is the epitome of laidback luxury. There are seven airy bedroom suites in the main house and a further three in a separate guest cottage. The master suite even boasts a dressing room and Jacuzzi.

Other perks in the Palladian-style house include a media room, fitness centre and a fully kitted-out kitchen. And most rooms have wide verandas looking out to sea.

But that’s not all. Outside, there is a swimming pool and Jacuzzi spa with a waterfall.

    Where is it?

Cove Spring House sits on a secluded, postcard-perfect beach along a tranquil cove. It is one of just four properties on an exclusive estate, located between the historic towns of Holetown and Speightstown on the west coast.

The Caribbean bolthole is also close to championship golf courses at Sandy Lane, Royal Westmoreland and Apes Hill, as well as the Sugar Hill tennis club and Holders polo field.

How much is it on for?

Cove Spring House costs a cool £41m. But the new owner can boost their depleted bank balance by letting it for around £17,100 per night through the luxury travel firm, Caribbean Collection.

Kieran Kelly, chairman of Chestertons Barbados, which is selling Cove Spring House, said: “It is the ultimate luxury beachfront mansion, enjoyed by the world’s elite.

"At $60m, it is now the most expensive property on the west coast of Barbados, having overtaken ‘Four Winds House’, listed at $55m, which was sold at the end of last year."

What is interesting about the area?

The west coast of Barbados, dubbed the ‘Platinum Coast’, is renowned for its clear, warm water and golden, sandy beaches.

Unsurprisingly, it’s become a haven for the rich and famous. Gwyneth Paltrow, Claudia Schiffer, and David and Victoria Beckham are just some of the celebrities that have holidayed on this stretch of coastline.
