Billy's comments come two weeks after he spoke about the Miley and Liam's happiness to E! News

'Here's what I do know. They're so happy. That's the main thing,' he said when he questioned about their rumoured engagement.

'Miley and I, we always had this slogan—'If you ain't happy, it ain't working.' Just seeing these—I still call 'em kids—these two kids happy, that's all that matters.'

He also said he was ready to perform any duties at their wedding, again jokingly suggesting he could be the butler, or the preacher.

While Billy is happy to discuss his daughter's relationship, the couple themselves have decided to remain mum on their official status.

But during a recent interview with GQ Magazine, the Australian hunk said: 'people will figure it out, they already have... They're not dumb.'

He spoke of his romance with Miley in slightly more ambiguous terms, saying: 'I guess when I feel something, then I just feel it and I go for it.

'I make my decisions about what's going to make me happy, what I think is right and what I want to do — and I don't worry too much outside of that,' he added.

His statements come after Liam candidly denied being engaged to Miley in an interview published by TV Week last month.

'I am not engaged', he said when quizzed by the publication..

Liam and Miley, who called off their engagement in 2013, first sparked rumours of a reconciliation in December after the singer was pictured with the actor in Australia.

The couple were also spotted at Falls festival in Byron Bay and Miley is said to have ushered in 2016 at a party at his brother Chris and Elsa Pataky's home.

They first began dating in early 2010 after meeting on the set of The Last Song and continued to date on again off again for the next three years before announcing their engagement in June 2012.

However, it was a very brief affair as they called off the wedding in September 2013.
