Brexit could hit UK property market 'for years to come' as impending vote holds back house prices
Experts have warned a Brexit vote could hit Britain's property market for at least the next two years as figures revealed a slight slowdown in annual house price growth last month. The average price of a UK property edged up 0.2 per cent to £204,368 in May, but annual growth slipped back to 4.7 per cent from 4.9 per cent in April, according to the latest monthly index from Nationwide Building Society.
Is it still worth holding Premium Bonds? Chance of winning prizes shrinks significantly from today
The odds on your Premium Bonds winning a prize get longer from today. How it costs £329 to change name on a £160 plane ticket as airlines claim fees are needed to avoid fraud
When Amy Gault needed to change the name on a plane ticket, she expected to pay a small admin fee. But she never dreamed Flybe would try to charge her £329 - more than double what she had paid for the flight in the first place. As well as the £80 admin fee, Flybe wanted an extra £249 because the airfares had increased since she first booked her tickets three months earlier, and she had to cover the difference.
How EU meddling slashed £15,000 off your pension: Loyal savers hit by record low payouts from insurance giants

Over the past three years, some firms have quietly slashed the payout from a £100,000 fund by as much as £800 a year. They say the EU is to blame for introducing new rules forcing insurers to keep in reserve money they would otherwise have paid to pensioners.

ASK TONY: HMRC owes me £800 - so why has it only sent a cheque for £1?
I have been trying to get a tax rebate from HMRC for the past year and feel I am being either fobbed off or totally ignored. I am 68 and receive a state pension of £75.41 a week and a small private pension of £350.72 per annum. On August 24, I received a reply with a cheque for £1 - which I have framed! RACHEL RICKARD STRAUS: I always thought young people were the most political - so why aren't they voting? They're paying a heavy price for it...
Throughout history students have so often been behind major political change, still imbued with the idealism that can be eroded over time. So did young people suddenly stop voting? Has voter turnout among young people always been as low as this, or did something trigger a fall? What is clear is failing to vote is costing them very dearly.

Property bubble WILL burst when rates rise warns forecaster as it finds house prices are now 6.1 times average earnings - near to pre-crash peak of 6.4
'Lower for longer' rates of interest are inflating the housing bubble, with the price of homes currently to more than six times average earnings, 'within a whisker' of its pre-financial crash peak, according to research by Fathom Consulting. The current UK's house price to income ratio is at 6.1 times earnings, very close to the peak of 6.4 times recorded in the run un to the financial crash of 2008. But for homes to be priced in line with earnings, hence be affordable, the ratio should fall to 3.5.
