Mamba on the scene! NBA great Kobe Bryant turns Ghostbuster as he dons gear for commercial promoting new reboot

He just wrapped up his last season in the NBA.

But it seems Kobe Bryant doesn't intend to sink into obscurity just yet, as the athlete is set to star in a new NBA finals commercial for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot.

The Players' Tribune obtained a behind-the-scenes video clip that shows the 37-year-old basketball legend 'gearing up' for his role as a professional 'ghostbuster.'

In the clip, Kobe is first seen conversing on a headset, dressed in a slick suit in front of a massive piece of wall art featuring a black mamba snake.

After a fade, the NBA legend, still dressed in a suit, holds one of the easily recognizable Ghostbusters hazmat suits in his hands, while he's surrounded by other distinctive equipment.

A brief montage shows the champion donning the beige and neon orange uniform and equipping himself with the now iconic proton pack capable of restraining any would-be demonic spirits.

One shot reveals that he has even received a custom 'Mamba' name badge, which of course was one of his on-court nicknames during his basketball career.

While the star was obviously concentrating on staying serious for the spot, at one point he couldn't help but grin widely as he brandished his ghost-busting weapon.

The commercial will air sometime during game one of the NBA finals on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the new film is set to premiere on July 15th.

Dan Aykroyd, who starred in the original Ghostbusters, recently revealed that he's read the script for the sci-fi reboot and told Extra: 'Oh man, it's hot. I read the script and those girls are gonna kill it.'

The original Ghostbusters was budgeted at $32m and has grossed more than $295m worldwide

Aykroyd also has a writing credit on the new film.
