Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have called it quits.

The singer, 23, and model, 21, have ended their relationship of seven months, E! News confirmed Thursday.

Sources said the couple had a rocky relationship and have previously broken up and got back together before.

They were fighting at Gigi's birthday celebrations in April, and have previously 'broken up and got back together a few times,' a source told E!.

But the couple may yet reconcile, another source added.

'Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow. It's all very unclear what's going on between them now,' one insider said.

'They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.'

Another source said: 'Gigi is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like to work it out.

'It's more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close.'

Although she's yet to comment on the split, Gigi posted a cryptic Snapchat of a loved-up card on Thursday.

'I know it's obvious, but I love you,' the card read, under an image image of a red heart on a sleeve.

And she appeared to be leaning on friends after the split, sharing a selfie with model pal Kendall Jenner on Thursday.

'DTLA,' she captioned the black-and-white snap, referring to downtown Los Angeles.

TIMELINE OF GIGI AND ZAYN'S ROMANCE

November, 2015: Gigi splits from ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas and begins dating Zayn weeks later. The couple are first spotted hanging out together after the American Music Awards.

November- December: Zayn and Gigi are spotted looking cozy and holding hands on dates around Los Angeles, but refuse to confirm their relationship.

January: Gigi and Zayn make out in the steamy video for his debut solo single Pillowtalk, which quickly racks up millions of views. But they stay coy on their relationship, with Zayn telling Beats 1 Gigi is 'a good friend.'

February: Zayn finally confirms their relationship when he admits Gigi is his 'girlfriend' in an interview.

April: The couple's relationship is reportedly strained as Gigi celebrates her 21st birthday with a big bash at The Nice Guy. Zayn is seen carrying Gigi out of the star-studded party, but the couple were reportedly fighting frequently and struggling with 'communication' issues during the party.

May: Zayn and Gigi wear matching metallic looks as they make their red carpet debut at the Met Costume Gala.

June: The couple split for good, with sources revealing the supermodel is 'really sad' and hopes to get back together.

Although they dated for seven months, Zayn and Gigi only made their red carpet debut last month when they attended the 2016 Met Gala in May.

The Pillowtalk hitmaker and the model matched in metallic outfits as they walked the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the 'Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology' bash.

Gigi previously dated musician Joe Jonas for five months, but they split a few weeks before she began dating Zayn in November last year.

She also previously dated Zayn's former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles, as well as Australian singer-songwriter Cody Simpson.

Zayn was previously engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, but they called off their relationship in August.
