IAN LADYMAN: Paul Pogba. A poster boy for his nation and also for a tournament. In a country with its heart blown wide open by terrorism, Pogba is the perfect symbol for recovery. Strong, tall, imposing, defiant, confident, hopeful. Now 22, he plays exactly like he looks he would play, only with a slightly lighter touch. A Serie A winner in each of the four years since leaving Old Trafford, Pogba will once again attract interest from Europe's top clubs this summer.

Why Rooney belongs in midfield: England captain upsets balance as Kane and Vardy fail to link up in drab win over Portugal
They came as the awesome foursome, the great entertainers and the embodiment of a cavalier attitude that Roy Hodgson has evidently spent his life hiding. They left to Mexican waves and a sense that this could be the same tired old tale of talented players that don't quite add up to the sum of their parts. How deflating. In Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney was an attacking quartet worth 67 goals and 22 assists last season. Just one of either would have done.
Smalling to the rescue as England stutter past Portugal after Alves sees red for boot to Kane's head at Wembley
MATT LAWTON AT WEMBLEY: How an England manager best organises his players was something Roy Hodgson did not consider terribly important on the eve of this contest. 'Formations don't win you games, players do,' he confidently declared and, judging by the final warm-up game before the serious business of the European Championship, that certainly appeared to be his philosophy.
Ronaldo shows there is no rest for the wicked as he trains in Ibiza with friends ahead of Portugal's Euro 2016 campaign
Cristiano Ronaldo was photographed doing some cross training exercise in Ibiza, Spain on Friday, shortly after his Portugal side lost to England at Wembley Stadium on Thursday night. The 31-year-old has been given time off after scoring the winning penalty in Saturday's Champions League final and the Real Madrid maestro will join up with his national team at the weekend. But before doing so, the former Manchester United forward is clearly keeping in top physical form - even while on holiday - as he was pictured sprinting topless with two friends on a running track.
All smiles in Germany camp as Gotze gets birthday hug from team-mate Schweinsteiger
The Germany squad looked as loose as could be in their final training session at their pre-tournament base in Switzerland. Players took part in fitness-building exercises and then had a bit of fun handling the ball in a change-of-pace send-off session. Birthday boy Mario Gotze of Bayern Munich was the centre of attention, receiving a hug from his former club team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger.

England hit the beach after training as they get ready for first Test against Australia
England took a break from their Australia Test match preparations with a trip to the beach, as Eddie Jones prepares for more rough treatment in his home country. The Red and Whites trained at The Southport School on Friday as they look to rectify their poor test record against the Wallabies on June 11, but they also found time to enjoy the scenery down under. England have won three from 17 tests against Australia and though they did beat Wales 27-13 at Twickenham last weekend, Jones' men will need to raise their game or risk another humbling.

Italy reveal their darker side in team photo as boss Conte admits 'fight' is his favourite English verb
They finished runners-up last time out but ahead of Euro 2016, Italy have shown they are still ahead of their rivals in the fashion stakes after the squad posed in suave suits for their pre-tournament photo. Antonio Conte's men have teamed up with Dolce & Gabbana to travel in style to France this summer but instead of opting for crisp white shirts to compliment their dark features, the squad posed in one block colour at their training camp in Coverciano, Florence. Italy have been drawn in Group E alongside Republic of Ireland, Sweden and Belgium in what many are calling the Group of Death, and Conte's side may need to call upon dark arts to progress to the knock-out stages.
Wrong sport, Robbie! O'Neill backs Ireland to 'stick it to them' as Keane tries his hand at hurling after scare
The Republic of Ireland's opening Group E clash with Sweden in Paris is now just 10 days away and O'Neill pointed to the 1-0 win over Germany as all the proof needed to believe the squad are up to the task of reaching the knock-out stages. Jonathan Walters sat out training as a precaution on Thursday with a calf problem and the Ireland boss insists his chosen 23 will draw from the qualification well of experience when the Euro finals kick off.

Hardman Costa tries Pilates as he tries new approach to hamstring problem recovery
After his omission from Spain's Euro 2016 squad due to concerns over his inconsistent form and a long term hamstring problem, Diego Costa is taking a slightly unconventional approach to recovery. The Chelsea striker spent time in London using a pilates machine on his left leg, which will help strengthen his vulnerable hamstring in addition to reducing the further risk of injury due to increased muscle toning. After a prolific first season in England's top flight, both he and Chelsea have struggled for goals in the last 12 months, and after muscle injuries halted any chances of consistency, the turn to pilates will hopefully leave him fully fit ahead of next season.

He's an outcast at Real Madrid under Zidane but can Rodriguez rediscover his form to drive Colombia to Copa America glory?
PETE JENSON: As Real Madrid showed two years ago, winning the European Cup is not the precursor to a quiet summer and over the next three months it seems unlikely they will be resting on the laurels of winning the competition for an 11th time. Big players will leave, big players will arrive and the smart money says James Rodriguez will not be at the Bernabeu come September.

McIlroy loses grip at the Memorial as Johnson leads the way at Muirfield
Out early in the first round and presented with the sort of conditions under which he usually thrives - little wind, soft greens - the Northern Irishman needed those birdies simply to nudge under the par of 72. Alongside him Jordan Spieth couldn't take advantage either, although given the mediocrity of his long game he was satisfied simply to beat McIlroy by a stroke with a 70 in Ohio.
