Recall: Bars, trail mixes may contain contaminated sunflower seeds

Quaker Oats, Clif Bars and other companies are recalling products containing sunflower seeds after learning their supplier, SunOpta, may have distributed seeds contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Some of the products were sold in Wisconsin.

In health people, Listeria monocytogenes can cause high fever, nausau, diarrhea, severe headaches and stiffness. Among pregnant women it can cause miscarriages and stillbirths. In young children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems it can cause serious — even fatal — infections.

All the companies recalling their products listed here are not aware of any illnesses caused by the products but are taking them off shelves out of an abundance of caution.
