Watch the horrific moment Dr Pimple Popper bursts an egg-shaped cyst on a man’s hip and it erupts with ‘cheesy paste’

  • Unidentified man has a wobbly, red, egg-shaped cyst on his right hip bone
  • Dr Pimple Popper cuts into it with a blade and it erupts with foul fluid
  • She explains he has an epidermoid cyst which has become inflamed
  • After squeezing all of the white paste out of the lump the procedure is done

This is the revolting moment a man's wobbly, egg-shaped cyst is burst for the first time - and what comes out will truly turn your stomach.

With the unidentified man lying on his back, Californian dermatologist Dr Pimple Popper cuts into the inflamed mound with a knife.

Immediately, cottage-cheese-like fluid sprays out continuously, clumping into a huge ball.

As more and more paste is excised, slowly, the red cyst begins to deflate and flatten.

The video has been viewed more than 880,000 times since it was uploaded to Dr Pimple Popper's YouTube and Instagram channels.

The film begins with Dr Pimple Popper - whose real name is Dr Sandra Lee - pinching the rotund lump before numbing it with anesthetic.

She said: ‘What we’re going to do is I’m going to get as much of the contents out as we can and then we’re going to let it stay open to heal it up because its inflamed.’

Immediately, green-tinged paste the consistency of whipped cream erupts from the mound.

As she squeezes more and more of the lumpy liquid erupts from the bump and forms a big, sticky ball.

Dr Pimple Popper wipes it away with a tissue and continues to squeeze until all of the foul-smelling fluid is removed.

‘One last little spray. My last little bit there,’ she says as a final spurt of liquid flies out.

Afterwards, the cyst has deflated – and yet as she pinches the lump she finds more of its wall still under the skin.

‘I’m going to squeeze the bejeezus out of it,’ she said.

After squirting a saline solution into the wound yet more of the broken cyst pops out of the incision.

She checks the cavity with cotton buds, and suddenly exclaims ‘There’s still more!’

Finding some of the mass still inside, she drags yet more out with tweezers.

After repeatedly prodding under the skin with the cotton bud she is finally satisfied all the cyst is removed.

She leaves the wound open - opting not to stitch it up with sutures - to allow it to heal better and to prevent infection.

Writing underneath the video, Dr Pimple Popper explained the man had an epidermoid cyst which had become inflamed.

Epidermoid cysts are non-cancerous lumps beneath the skin, which commonly appear on the face, neck and torso.

They occur when hair follicles become blocked with wet, dead, skin cells.

After all the fluid is squeezed from the cyst it is deflates and is considerably flatter (left, before, right, afterwards). Dr Pimple Popper says she opted not to stitch up the wound to promote healing

A bag - called a sac - forms around the mashed up cells, and it can continue to grow bigger as the skin regenerates itself - causing a raised lump.

They are slow growing and painless, and rarely cause problems or need treatment.

However, sometimes they need to be removed if they become painful, ruptured or inflamed - as this man's had.

Dr Pimple Popper said: 'Technically, this is not an infection: When an epidermoid cyst ruptures, it creates a vigorous foreign body inflammatory response - this skin becomes warm, tender, painful, and swells, simulating an abscess.

'Incision and Drainage will confirm the diagnosis of inflamed cyst, when the cheesy, sometimes odiferous material is evacuated, and this process often leads to rapid resolution of symptoms.'
