He's no stranger to showbusiness.

But Joaquin Phoenix cut a low-key figure as he was spotted heading to dinner with a female friend in West Hollywood on Thursday.

The 41-year-old Golden Globe winner looked to be in good spirits as he and his date made their way to Maxim Restaurant.

Joaquin wore a distressed, fitted white T-shirt which looked to have a few holes in it, for the dinner outing.

He coupled the worn shirt with a pair of fitted, black jeans, also wearing a pair of distressed, low-top Converse sneakers.

The Gladiator star had a pair of sunglasses clipped to his shirt, and wore his long hair slicked back, also showing off a beard.

He carried a black baseball cap for the dinner date, while white earbuds could be seen slung around the actor's neck.

His companion wore a long-sleeved, black sweater, which she coupled with an eye-catching, bright red skirt.

She kept casual for the evening, pairing the stylish, button down number with low-top, white sneakers.

Joaquin looked to be in good spirits for the outing, as he was photographed showing a big smile while stepping out with his mystery date.

And the actor was likely enjoying his downtime, as he will soon be busy with his packed schedule for the upcoming year.

He is set to appear in a series of projects for the next coming years, with roles in westerns The Sisters Brothers and Far Bright Star, and dramas Mary Magdalene and You Were Never Really Here.
