SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Homeland star Rupert Friend treats his new wife to a game of pool on their wedding night

Even the most low-key bride might expect a little romance on her wedding night, so spare a thought for American Paralympian and model Aimee Mullins.

She celebrated her nuptials with Homeland star Rupert Friend by playing pool at a pub.

Historian’s son Rupert, 34, and Aimee, 39, who was born with a medical condition that resulted in the amputation of her lower legs, eloped with just two friends in attendance: artist Ed Atkins, who officiated, and erotic jewellery designer Betony Vernon as a witness.

Originally due to take place in a field, the wedding was moved to a compost shed because of the weather.

Rupert previously courted Keira Knightley but, given the size of the guest list, she can’t complain about not being invited.

Jo Wood's wrinkly ex-husband, the Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie, 69, has just become a father again with his third wife, Sally Humphreys, 38, but Jo says she would never romance anyone so young.

‘I wouldn’t go younger than my oldest son, Jamie, who’s 40,’ declares the former Strictly Come Dancing star. ‘I have no idea why so many older women date younger men — no idea!’

Jo, 61, who has two sons and a daughter with Ronnie, adds: ‘I look at my sons and I think: “Oh, my God, look at how old they’re getting,” and I wouldn’t want to go out with someone who’s younger than them, or the same age. They would hate it.’

Joanna, 70, who plays Bollinger-swigging Patsy in Ab Fab, was wrapped up in a sensible scarf and black coat, but did wear a pair of eye-catching tasselled boots, of which her on-screen alter ego would approve.

Although Jennifer, 57, would horrify her fashion victim character Edina with her scruffy jeans, black coat and top.

In fact, Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge had a privileged upbringing. To prove it, her parents, property developer Terrence and wife, Rita, are selling their estate north of London for £10 million.

The Grade II-listed Regency-style house is advertised as ‘a 14-minute helicopter ride from Battersea’ and has a huge swimming pool, tennis court and stabling for 30 horses.
