He's never actually uttered the words, but Liam Hemsworth appears to have solidified his relationship with Miley Cyrus. 

Paying tribute to the late Muhammad Ali on Sunday, the Hunger Games star shared a snap of when he and Miley met the boxing legend.

Writing in the caption: 'I'll never forget the day we met the toughest man on the planet,' it's the first time the controversial pop star has ever featured on the 26-year-old actor's social media.

Fans were quick to point out the Australian star's use of the word 'we', which appears to confirm their relationship status.

Minutes later, Miley shared the same photo with her Instagram followers, simply writing 'RIP Champ' in the caption.  

Speculation regarding Liam and Miley has been going into overdrive the last few months, with Miley's country singing father Billy Ray even suggesting marriage could be down the track.

'They know if they need a preacher, they've found one,' he said on Today. 

Liam all but confirmed his relationship with Miley in a recent interview with GQ Australia.

The Hunger Games star said of his relationship with the controversial songstress, 'people will figure it out, they already have... They're not dumb.'

The Australian hunk spoke of his relationship with Miley in slightly more ambiguous terms, simply saying: 'I guess when I feel something, then I just feel it and I go for it.'   

Meanwhile, the Independence Day: Resurgence actor has been spotted out and about with Miley, who recently began wearing the 3.5 carat engagement ring Liam gave her in 2012.

Liam and Miley, who called off their engagement in 2013, first sparked rumours of a reconciliation in December after the singer was pictured with the actor in Australia.
