The Avianca Airbus, which was flying from Lima in Peru to Buenos Aires in Argentina, was dramatically rocked at around 41,000ft. Images of injured people standing by their seats, oxygen masks hanging from the ceiling and panels snapped and dented emerged online following the incident. One passenger claimed that it was 'a miracle that passengers survived'.

British grandmother Doreen Collyer, 60 (left), who is originally from Chester, Cheshire, was diving at a reef off Mindarie Beach, about 35 kilometres north of Perth, when she was attacked by a great white shark yesterday. Her husband David had been driving to the beach to meet her and her diving companion, John, when he saw helicopters hovering overhead. He arrived at the boat yard (centre) to be told by paramedics that his 'loving wife' had been killed by a shark described as being 'bigger than an 18ft boat'. Paying tribute to his 'beautiful wife' today, Mr Collyer said the pair - who have two children together and a granddaughter called Daisy - moved to Australia five years ago to be closer to their son and grandchild. He said: 'Doreen was a beautiful person and everyone loved her, she was a devoted grandmother, mother and loving wife.'

Close friend Tim Shanahan (above with Ali) claims the overly generous boxing legend 'would empty his wallet  - even for a stranger' in his memoir Running with the Champ and believes it has seriously impacted his fortune. Ali, who died on Friday, felt guilty about his affairs and having two children out of wedlock so he 'never said no' when relatives asked him for cash. He was persuaded to open Ali's Trolley chicken restaurant in Chicago where he lived, but it closed after 18 months. Shanahan claims members of his inner circle began 'actively ripping him off.' He claims Ali's cronies spent $2.5 million that should have gone to pay his taxes and looted $21 million from a sports company set up in his name. The author was 'disgusted' to see the boxer's so-called friends submitting bogus receipts for meals, clothes and drinks. Ali once told Shanahan,  'I never had any trouble with my white brothers around me. It's always my black brothers who try and screw me.'

Police announced the arrest of the 25-year-old, identified as Gregoire M., on the day the England team flew into Paris ready for the tournament's kick off on Friday. The 'far-right nationalist', who originally comes from Bar-le-Duc, near Reims, in northeast France, was arrested on Ukraine's border with Poland on May 21st. Ukraine police said he had massed a 'vast arsenal' including five Kalashnikov assault rifles, two anti-tank grenade launchers, 5000 rounds of ammunition and 125kg of TNT explosives. They said he aimed 'to blow up a Muslim mosque, a Jewish synagogue, tax collection organisations, police patrol units and numerous other locations'. Ukraine's SBU security service said it had been watching the suspect since December last year.

The missing wife of murdered pensioner Peter Stuart (right with wife Sylvia) could be alive and with the man wanted on suspicion of stabbing him to death, police have revealed. Sylvia Stuart, 69, disappeared shortly before the body of her 75-year-old husband Peter was found with multiple stab wounds on Friday night. A manhunt is now underway to find 42-year-old Ali Qazimaj (inset left), whose home in Tilbury, Essex was searched by police today (main). But there are fears he may have fled to France, possibly with Mrs Stuart, after police discovered his car in Dover, Kent. Mr and Mrs Stuart, who were keen line dancers, went missing following a family gathering on May 28 at their home in Weybread, Suffolk. Meanwhile, it has emerged a 61-year-old man from Leicester arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, is the couple's son-in-law, Steve Paxman. He is still in police custody.

Louisa Eagle, 22, from Ealing, London, says she consumes around seven to ten jars a day to maintain her 8st 7lb figure. She believes the diet, which is popular with Hollywood celebrities, could be perfect for obese patients as a healthier alternative to gastric surgery. Dramatic pictures show how huge waves whipped up by 80mph winds have torn into to the coastline around the city, in New South Wales, Australia. As weather experts warned of further damage from abnormally high tides, images show a home's swimming pool after it collapsed in to the ocean (left and top right) along a northern Sydney beach. Public transport was left in chaos with train and ferry cancellations leaving hordes of peak hour commuters lining up for replacement buses. The brunt of the storm is yet to hit the Illawarra region of New South Wales and another 100 millimetres of rainfall is expected before the low-pressure system moves on to Tasmania on Monday evening.

Grace Banks, 29, had pleaded guilty to animal neglect and fraud and was brought back before Manchester Crown Court for a Proceeds of Crime hearing. Banks (pictured left), who the court heard uses a number of alias and used to work as an escort, earned a total of £505,739 from her puppy farms. But the court heard that she can only afford to pay back £8,500, which she must do within three months or face further jail time. Raids revealed that she had kept dogs in distressing conditions at an address in Stockport, while the body of a dead puppy was found in the boot of her Mercedes (shown right and top right inset).

A woman who was stung by a paper wasp recorded her hilarious reaction after her lip and cheek doubled in size. 'So this is me after being stung by a paper wasp,' she said in the video. Her entire top lip and her left cheek were completely swollen from an allergic reaction after she was stung.

Philip, 94, was spotted in his carriage in Windsor Great Park this morning just one week after he was forced to miss out on the Battle of Jutland centenary commemorations due to ill health. Joey Warchal (pictured, right), a 13-year-old boy with a love for antiques, had the wherewithal to noticed an error in the meticulously recreated cell of famous gangster Al Capone at The Eastern State Penitentiary museum in Philadelphia. The museum has an impeccable recreation of the jail cell Capone lived in from 1929 to 1930. Joey identified the large cabinet radio included in the exhibit as a Philco A-361, which came out ten years after Capone served time. The 13-year-old emailed the museum's vice president Sean Kelley and offered to find the right piece for them. Kelley agreed and gave the 13-year-old, who is in seventh grade and said he loves English classes, $400 to find a replacement. The museum has planned a cider and cake party to celebrate the arrival of the radio, which will be delivered on June 7.

The evening bath-time struggle is evidently not confined to the human world. This is the moment when a mother panda had to literally wrestle her cub into the water as the time had come for its daily wash. The panda and her cub were filmed during their bathing battle at the Chengdu Research base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu, capital of south-west China's Sichuan Province.

They all have one thing in common - they've been abandoned by their owners.

The giant earthworm was spotted crossing the road in front of video host and entomologist Phil Torres, who was travelling to the Sumaco Volcano in Ecuador. Torres found the creature to be a staggering four foot long, although, according to the host, the same species is capable of reaching a length of around seven foot. The group also estimated that the earthworm weighed about 1lb.

Many people find inspiration for their next meal on Instagram. But some food trends are easier said than done. Australian foodies have shared failed attempts at the 'avocado rose' (pictured), a trend that sees avocados thinly sliced and curled together to make a delicate looking flower. But using ripe avocados proved many peoples' downfall, as the fruit failed to hold its shape and instead went mushy.

Soda like Diet Coke is already 'bubbly' due to its carbonation, so adding salt to it causes a violent explosion. Here, the Daily Mail Online attempts the 'Coke experiment', following trends such as dropping a Mentos into the fizzy brown beverage, or pouring in some bleach (which makes it turn clear). But when you add salt? Turns out there is a soda explosion, followed by quite a mess. The salt causes the carbon dioxide in the soda to form into bubbles.

The humorous footage was captured in California and shows a man coming home and being greeted by his three beloved pets. In the clip, the excitable animals run around the house with their tails wagging as he steps inside the room. Moments later one of the dogs become even more excited and jumps up on the arm of the sofa (left). It then begins howling in the most bizarre fashion while its owner makes noises back at it and holds out his arms (middle). The clip concludes with the man picking up the dog as if it were a baby and holding it until it settles down (right).
