Avianca Airbus passengers tell of horror on board a plane hit by severe turbulence

The Avianca Airbus, which was flying from Lima in Peru to Buenos Aires in Argentina, was dramatically rocked at around 41,000ft. Images of injured people standing by their seats, oxygen masks hanging from the ceiling and panels snapped and dented emerged online following the incident. One passenger claimed that it was 'a miracle that passengers survived'.

This incredible drone footage of the Flying Scotsman steaming across a picturesque viaduct is an impressive sight - and not just for trainspotters. A cloudy, grey day was brightened up by the iconic locomotive chugging along the tracks of the Harringworth viaduct in Northamptonshire - the longest masonry viaduct in Britain. Hundreds of amazed onlookers gathered in the field below as the magnificent train sped down the railway on its journey from London to York.

George Guille, 33, first left his home island of Sark in the Channel islands nine years ago and since then has clocked up 110,000 miles. Calling it a 'complete hotel key fail', two travellers exposed a major security flaw when they used their card to unlock multiple rooms at the $38-a-night Rodeway Inn on Route 66 in Gallup, New Mexico. Footage shows one of the men holding the key for the camera (top left) and using it to open their door (bottom left) before unlocking two adjacent rooms at the budget hotel. Choice Hotels, which owns the Rodeway Inn chain, blamed it on a 'malfunction' in the hotel's key card system and said the flaw has been addressed.

United Airlines unveils new Polaris business class

United Airlines' new Polaris business class cabin will be available on long-haul flights between the US and destinations such as London and Tokyo starting later this year. Every suite has a lie-flat bed, 'do not disturb' sign, mood lighting, 16in HD screen and bedding from Saks Fifth Avenue, while pyjamas (inset) are available on longer flights. The new amenity kits contain ergonomically-designed eye shades and calming lavender pillow mist, and a new pre-departure lounge concept will have sleep pods.

Awkward Family Photos' most embarrasing beach holiday snaps

Celebrity Cruises Infinity ship crashes into dock in Ketchikan, Alaska

No one on board the 965ft Celebrity Infinity was injured when it crashed into the pier in Ketchikan, which faces the Inside Passage, but the ship was forced to stay overnight while it was repaired. Footage shows the ship arriving in high winds when it suddenly slams into the dock and scrapes along a barrier. Ketchikan officials said the dock suffered up to $3 million in damage and will be out of service for up to two months.

The study also found that the thought of getting behind the wheel abroad is worrying for 71 per cent of Brits and one in 20 drive more dangerously abroad because they get nervous.

Known for its miles of golden sandy beaches, Cornwall was named by 31 per cent of Brits in a recent survey as the best place for a staycation.

Now he's become one of the world's best known nature cameramen after uploading the film onto Facebook.

The A320 aircraft - the same type as EgyptAir MS804 - was forced to circle above Merseyside. It was reported online that the plane had technical issues with its landing gear.

The man reportedly got into the Delhi airport with a fake ticket to the UAE and stayed there for 10 days before he was reported by housekeeping staff. He has since been charged with trespassing.

Jonathan Quinonez, from Brussels, is visiting glamorous beaches and landmarks, and documenting his adventures with Instagram snaps that show him holding a sign reading 'Mom I'm Fine'. He's not alone in many of the shots, which show him squeezed between a group of bikini-clad women on a beach in Cancun, Mexico, scuba diving in the Caribbean Sea and being held upside down by men dressed as soldiers in Colombia. The 27-year-old came up with the idea after he quit his job and sold his car in order to travel the world.
