Waterfront homes in Collaroy on Sydney's northern beaches badly damaged by the storms that battered Australia's east coast may need to be demolished as they are no longer save to live in. The Cincinnati Zoo reopened its gorilla exhibit Tuesday with a higher, reinforced barrier installed after a young boy got into the exhibit and was dragged by a 400-pound gorilla, which was then shot and killed. Alarming images from Lizard Island on the Great Barrier Reef show coral skeletons turned a ghastly shade of brown, a testament to the devastating impact of algae. WWF Australia says a mass bleaching event that's killed an estimated 22 per cent of the reef's corals. About 93 per cent of the reefs along the 2,300 kilometre site have suffered bleaching, which occurs when changes in water temperatures make the coral expel algae, turning a different shade.

A pregnant woman has contemplated replacing her doctor with social media, after users on Reddit saved her life. A video of the unidentified mum-to-be doing what was described as her funny 'belly button' trick was posted on the social media site by her amused husband. A fish has been photographed swimming within a jellyfish with a bewildered look on its face off the coast Australia. Tim Samuel was free diving in the waters off Byron Bay, near the Queensland-New South Wales border, when he noticed a jellyfish bobbing past with a fish trapped inside it. He posted images of the bizarre sight to Instagram which showed the small fish looking snug within the bell of the jelly fish.

As of Tuesday morning, the American Meteor Society had received 154 reports of a fireball seen over Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas and Kentucky and Michigan on Monday. This is the moment when a tiger finally won a bloody fight of life and death against a doomed deer. The tiger had spotted the herd of Sambar deers quenching their thirst by Rajbagh Lake at Rahnthambhore National Park in Rajasthan, India, and launched an attack on a young stag.
