'Whitney would be alive today if Robyn was accepted': Bobby Brown claims Houston suffered when mom Cissy alienated the star from 'gay lover'

  • Bobby claims it was her mother who kept Whitney and Robyn apart
  • And if she had Crawford nearby, Houston may still be alive
  • He told UsWeekly: 'She didn’t have close friends with her anymore'

Bobby Brown has been unloading some old secrets lately.

The singer talked to the Wednesday edition of UsWeekly, revealing his ex, the late Whitney Houston, had a sexual relationship with her assistant Robyn Crawford, who is now 55.

'I know,' the 47-year-old hit maker said. 'We were married for 14 years. There are some things we talked about that were personal to us,' he added. He also claimed that the star's mother Cissy did not approve of the relationship, causing Whitney to be lonely.

Houston was long rumored to have had a secret same-sex romance with Crawford.

But she always denied those claims.

After Houston’s February 2012 death from an overdose of cocaine, marijuana, Benadryl and Xanax, Crawford wrote in a piece for Esquire that Whitney was 'a loyal friend' who 'looked like an angel.'

'I loved her laughter, and that’s what I’ll miss most,' she wrote.

Houston and Crawford met as teens when they both worked at a community center in East Orange, New Jersey.

Crawford became her assistant and later creative director, and was always near the Bodyguard star, the publication added.

In his book Every Little Step, Bobby said Whitney was bisexual.

'I’m a man and she was attracted to me!' he explained to UsWeekly.

Brown thinks her family kept her from living with the woman.

And he said it was her mother, Cissy Houston, who was not OK with the relationship.

It was also alleged that Cissy, now 82, wanted Robyn fired.

'I really feel that if Robyn was accepted into Whitney’s life, Whitney would still be alive today,' Brown told the weekly. 'She didn’t have close friends with her anymore.'

Cissy told Oprah Winfrey in 2013 that it 'absolutely' would have bothered her if her daughter was gay.

Bobby has also been talking about his late daughter.

In an interview that aired Tuesday night, Brown broke down in tears as he revealed that his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was discovered lifeless in a bathtub just two days before she was set to move to Los Angeles to be closer to him.

After her mother Whitney died, Kristina grew distant from her father and other family members, he said in an interview with Robin Roberts on ABC's 20/20.

But Brown said that his daughter had reached out to him in 2014 and the pair had an emotional reunion on Father's Day that year.

'That was a special day,' Brown told Roberts as he fought back tears, adding that things were going so well with his daughter that she decided to move to Los Angeles where he lived.

But on January 31 last year, Bobbi, then 21, was discovered face down in her Georgia townhouse and died six months later.
