'I was born with a set of teeth': OITNB star Kate Mulgrew reveals unusual birth condition and claims her parents kept her in a cage because she had 'no sense of pain'
Orange Is The New Black star Kate Mulgrew claimed she was born with a set of perfect teeth, during an interview with Lorraine on Thursday.
The actress, 61, who stars as Galina 'Red' Reznikov in the series, also claimed she had 'no sense of pain' so her parents kept her in a cage for her own safety.
She said: 'I was born with teeth. Yes, I was born with a set of perfect teeth. They're actually sort of pearlescent, and they're very dangerous because the baby can swallow them.'

The star, who also played Captain Janeway on Star Trek released her memoir last year, called Born with Teeth.
She told Lorraine Kelly: 'They built me a little cage because I had no sense of pain until I was four years old.
'So I was born with teeth and I had no sense of pain. Imagine what Shakespeare would have done with that.'

Lorraine joked: 'Years ago they would have said you were a witch!'
According to Medline: 'Natal teeth are uncommon. They are present in about 1 in every 2,000 to 3,000 births and attached to the end of the gum by soft tissue and are often wobbly.
'Natal teeth are often removed shortly after birth while the newborn infant is still in the hospital. This is very often done if the tooth is loose and the child runs a risk "breathing in" the tooth.'
Meanwhile, Kate also spoke about the impending return of Orange Is The New Black on June 17.
The star believes the Netflix drama set in a women's prison is so popular because the audience can relate to the flawed characters and their attempts to make amends for their mistakes and survive jail.
She said: 'We're so used to looking at television and watching people who are so far above us we can't possibly relate to them, and anyway why would you want to?
'They're too perfect to look at, they're too perfect to listen to. These women [on 'OITNB'], they've made a lot of mistakes and they're trying to rectify them.
'Mostly they're trying to survive under these very appalling circumstances, and they're doing it with as much beauty and depth and compassion as they can.'
