Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler speak about their commitment to telling good stories on the fifth anniversary of Maven Pictures

Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray celebrated the fifth anniversary of their transatlantic development, production, and financing company Maven Pictures on Wednesday night with an event in New York City.

The ladies took some time at the beginning of the event to look back on the past five years and share with DailyMail.com what brought them together in the beginning.

The pair also explained how they come to choose projects and reflected on some of the amazing women they have worked with and stories they have told in the past few years.

It has been a big year for Maven Pictures, with the company celebrating their most recent film American Honey picking up the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival just last month.

That film, which is written and directed by critically acclaimed English filmmaker Andrea Arnold, stars Shia LaBeouf, Riley Keough and newcomer Sasha Lane, will be released later this year.

Also coming later this year will be Freak Show, Styler's feature-length directorial debut.

The film, which is based on the book of the same name by former club kid James St. James, stars Bette Midler, Laverne Cox, Styler's daughter Mickey Sumner and Ian Nelson and Abigail Breslin, who both came out to fete their director at Wednesday night's party.

The intimate gathering was held at Tutto il Giorno, the trendy Tribeca eatery owned by Gabby Karan De Felice and the night capped off with a surprise performance from Sting.

Other guests potted sipping Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Belvedere Vodka included Meg Ryan, Marisa Tomei, Donna Karan, Matthew Modine, Anna Chlumsky, Richard E. Grant, Ashleigh Banfield, Justin Bartha, Debbie Harry, Alexandra Kelly, Ahna O'Reilly, Dan Abrams, Jessica Joffe, Damon Cardasis, Sarah Wynter, Elen Kampouris, Chazz Palminteri and Zuleikha Robinson.

Paul Haggis was also on hand, and admitted to being the person who first introduced Styler and Rattray, believing that the two woman were a perfect fit.

Styler had already found success producing such films as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints while Rattray had won a Golden Globe and been nominated for an Oscar as a producer of the 2010 film The Kids Are All Right.

Their first film together under the Maven Pictures banner was Girl Most Likely, which starred kristen Wiig, Annette Benning and Matt Dillon, and was directed by the Oscar-nominated team of Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini.

Maven also worked with Berman and Pulcini on their 2015 film 10,000 Saints, which starred Ethan Hawke and Hailee Steinfeld.

That same year Maven was also involved with the film Still Alice, starring an all-star cast that included Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin and Kristen Stewart.

Moore would go on to win the Best Actress oscar for her role as a moth and professor in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease.

In addition to American Honey and Freak Show, Maven will also release Wildling later thios year, which stars Liv Tyler and Bel Powley.
