Brolly good show! Kate Mara carries a large umbrella as she films biopic Leavey on a sunny day in Georgia

It was a steamy 90F in LaGrange, Georgia, on Thursday.

Which may be why the very fair-skinned Kate Mara was seen carrying a big black umbrella on the outdoor set of her new movie, Leavey.

The beautiful 33-year-old appeared to be going through her lines with cast members as they sat at a makeshift table by the side of the street.

Easily recognised by her shining red hair, the actress wore a long-sleeved scarlet T-shirt and black skinny jeans.

The House Of Cards star is starring as Megan Leavy in the biopic about the hero Marine corporal and her combat dog Max, a German Shepherd, directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite.

As a team in the K-9 unit, they saved many lives searching for roadside bombs during two tours in Iraq from 2004 to 2006.

After she was wounded in combat, for which she received a Purple Heart, Megan was forced to retire but Rex remained on active duty.

She spent the next five years waiting to adopt Rex and when he ended up on a list to be euthanized, Megan geared up for the fight of her life to bring her 11-year-old partner home.

There was no sign of the German Shepherd on set.

But co-star Tom Felton posted an Instagram snap early this year of himself in military fatigues, lying on the ground next to a beautiful dog with other stand-in K-9s in the background as they filmed in Zaragoza, Spain earlier this year.

The movie, which also co-stars Bradley Whitford, has yet to set a release date.
