From Deliverance to Sharky's Machine, he famously did all his own stunts.

But at 80-years-of age, Burt Reynolds can be forgiven for finally seeking a little assistance.

The veteran star was joined by a stunt double on the set of Dog Years on Wednesday, as he filmed with Ariel Winter on a bridge.

Burt's stuntman wore a rather spooky looking prosthetic mask for the scenes, in an attempt to pass as the older actor.

Luckily Burt, walking with the aid of a cane, had his teenage co-star on hand to give him some extra support.

As in previous scenes Ariel was dressed in cut off denim hotpants and a grey crop top for the shoot in Nashville, Tennessee.

As part of her costume Ariel also wore fake tattoos of a scorpion on her torso and a spider on her thigh, and a nose ring.

She finished off the look with a pair of beat up black leather lace-up boots.

The duo were joined by an older lady who rode in a wheelchair - before Burt jumped into her spot. 

The movie tells the story of an emotionally unstable young woman, played by Ariel, who is assigned to be the driver of an aging actor.

Despite the age gap between the teen star and Boogie Nights star Reynolds the two appear to be getting along fabulously.

Ariel is filming the movie while on a scheduled break from her work on the TV show Modern Family. 

She has had a busy summer, fitting in a sunshine break, along with a trip to prom -having just graduated high school.
