Swinging 60s! Zara Tindall parties the night away with Mike at LouLou’s until 2.40am - in VERY funky platform shoes

  • Couple enjoyed night on the tiles at exclusive club in London
  • Zara sported colourful '60s style wedge heels
  • Rare night out for parents of toddler daughter Mia, two
  • Royal, 35, has a busy schedule as she prepares to compete at Rio

She's a professional athlete and mum to a boisterous toddler, so it's not often that Zara Tindall hits the tiles.

But last night, the Queen's granddaughter enjoyed a rare night on the town with husband Mike at Loulou's nightclub in London.

The pair clearly were in no hurry to get home to the babysitter as they didn't leave until 2.40am.

Zara swapped her usual paired back style for a pair of statement shoes with a 1960s vibe.

She paired the funky t-bar patent sandals with white skinny trousers and a grey silk top.

The cream red and white heels were something of a departure for the talented equestrian who is normally seen in jeans and trainers or wellies.

Husband Mike looked smart in a grey jacket and a blue checked shirt.

The 35-year-old royal, who is staking a claim to be selected for the Olympic Games in Rio this summer, has been kept busy of late with eventing.

Of her Olympic ambitions, Zara has said: 'I would love to go to another Olympics. I am very lucky to have gone to London. When we finished there, the next one (Olympics) seemed like forever away.

'It's the place to be. It is where you want to be, with the rest of the world's sport. It is a unique championship, and to be able to represent your country there is phenomenal.'

She's also a busy mum to two-year-old Mia whose father has admitted can be, like all toddlers, a bit of a handful.

Mia stole the show in the Queen's 90th birthday portrait when she grabbed her handbag, and the doting dad admitted that the moment was totally unscripted.

'It just happened at the right time. She was being a bit naughty,' he explained. 'The queen got it quite right when she told her: "Just hold the handbag now".

'And she did that. It ended up being a great photo for her.'

He also revealed that toddler Mia is already very outgoing, something which her parents welcome.

'She's got quite a little personality on her, and we encourage that,' he said.

'It just turned out to be the right photo at the right time and it will be something we'll always cherish, I think.'

A royal source had previously confirmed that Mia picking up her great grandmother's £1020 handbag was completely unscripted.

‘The moment with Mia was completely spontaneous, it was not staged at all. She just picked up her great-granny’s handbag and that was it,’ they said.
