The best on our desks: This week, a PEEL-OFF lip stain, glowy moisturizer and genius blowdry product favored by model Anja Rubik top our list of new beauty favorites

One of the (major) perks of being a beauty editor is getting to test every new product under the sun. The amount of things brands send to us on the regular is dizzying - in the absolute best of ways.

Because of this, the number-one question we get asked is 'Ooh, what are you liking right now?' The answer? So. Many. Things.

In an effort to make our answer a little more specific, each week we tell you the best hair, make-up, nail and skin care products that crossed our desks recently. Read on, try them for yourselves and feel free to take all the credit when your friends ask why you look so amazing lately.

GlamGlow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer

I've always been a fan of GlamGlow masks. (If you haven't tried the Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment, it's a must for getting rid of dead skin cells and clearing up blackheads.) And the brand's latest launch, the Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer, more than lives up to the high standards I've come to expect. It's intensely hydrating without being the least bit greasy, smells like a delicious orange Creamsicle and gives skin the faintest hint of shimmer that really only appears when the light hits it just right. I'm going to use this on my face, neck, décolletage and even down the backs of my arms and fronts of my legs.

Kérastase Paris L’incroyable Blowdry
When Matt Fugate, the man who tends to the incredible mane of Blake Lively, tells you a product works, you listen. When I found myself in his chair recently, he rubbed two pumps of Kérstase's new heat-activated lotion in my towel-dried hair from roots to ends (model Anja Rubik is also a fan). 'The heat-protectant in here is like Khaleesi on Game of Thrones,' he joked. 'It can withstand fire.' Fire is a bit of an overstatement, but the product will protect hair from heat up to 450 degrees F. I left the salon with a sleek blowout and the sense that there was product on my hair but nothing visible. A few days and two workouts later, my straight style had gone the way of the Mad King, but Matt assured me the product could be re-activated using a blowdryer, flat iron or curling iron. Sure enough, a few passes with a curling wand created beachy waves that looked like Day 1 hair instead of Day 3. Now that is some black magic I can get behind.

Ole Henriksen POWER Bright

As a beauty editor, I've learned time and again that Vitamin C is the ultimate brightening ingredient when it comes to skincare. But until I tried the new Power Bright system from Ole Henriksen, I'm not sure I totally believed it worked for me. The three-step system comes with an exfoliating mask that uses sugar, honey and pomegranate to prep skin for the second phase, which is what makes the system unique. It's a 25-percent Vitamin C concentrate, which is the highest of any product sold at most beauty stores. It's so potent that it's normal to feel a tingling sensation when applied (I definitely did!). The final step is oddly called a cleanser, but it actually acts as a sealant to trap in the Vitamin C from step two. My skin literally glowed for six hours after I tried the product, and it was so soft I couldn't stop touching it for even longer. The treatment is supposed to be used once a week, and I'm already counting down the days until I can use it again.

IXXI Essenxiel Milky Hydrating Lotion

My love of facial mists is well-documented, so I was intrigued the moment I caught sight of this milky mist at a press appointment for the new-to-the-US brand IXXI. Unlike most mists, this one stays on the skin for more than a few seconds, giving it a cooling effect while it hydrates. Despite the urge to pat the product into your skin, its best to let it sit on top and be absorbed naturally. I like to use it before touching up my make-up or anytime when I need a pick-me-up throughout the day. The French brand's hero ingredient is a proprietary polyphenol extracted from the bark of the Landes Martime Pine, which contains anti-aging and collagen-producing properties.

Cailyn Cocoon Lip Stain

I'll be honest: The first time I used this peel-off lip stain, I didn't get what all the fuss was about. I applied a layer of the product, which truth be told tastes a little like cough medicine, and waited the recommended ten minutes before peeling it off. I was left with a hint of color, but nothing that justified the effort. Everyone else around me, though, couldn't stop raving about it, so I gave it another shot. This time I applied a much thicker layer of it on my lips and when I peeled it off, I was left with a perfectly Popsicle-stained pout. My lips stayed that color without being touched up throughout the day, and when I went out that night, I applied a little lip liner and tinted balm over it - on the recommendation of a friend - and was out the door. The ten-minute wait in the morning was well worth the staying power.
