Sports Direct’s Mike Ashley faces £20m bill over wage row

Sports Direct staff are owed more than £20million, union sources and City analysts have estimated following the admission by the firm's owner Mike Ashley that he failed to pay the minimum wage. Founder and majority shareholder Ashley admitted to MPs last week that staff at the group's main distribution centre had not been paid the minimum wage, because they had been forced to spend unpaid time going through security checks. The situation continued for four years at the Shirebrook complex in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, which employs 3,000 workers.

Soap firm loses its Glory plunging into the red after being snapped up by Boots 

Soap & Glory - the beauty products company behind Rich & Foamous body wash and The Firminator toning lotion - has plunged into the red after being bought by high street retailer Boots. Sales for the 17 months to August 31, 2015, fell to £12.8million while a previous pre-tax profit of £1.4million turned into a £2.6million loss. During the financial period the company was taken over by Boots parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance, a minority stakeholder since 2011, hence the longer reporting period.

M&S; admitted the practice in a previous year's annual report, when it said it sold £800million of goods online but £151million of that was brought back.

Fallon is already facing protests over an expected deal to buy 50 Apache helicopters, also made by Boeing, putting the future of 600 aeronautical jobs in the UK at risk.

Athlete Mannies was co-founded by running friends Ben Coldray, 24, and Richard Goodman, 23, who say there is a huge demand, particularly in London, for more flexible 'wrap-around' childcare for primary school children, typically from 3pm to 7pm, and this suits athletes' routines. Coldray said: 'We've been doing it for 11 months. It works well as we're both full-time runners. We started with one family and now we're up to 50 in Teddington and Twickenham in South-West London, and we've just started in Putney.'

The British Institute of Facilities Management and the Engineering Employers' Federation are among those to have expressed concern about the scheme's design.
