He recently sung the praises of all the lessons he's learned since becoming a dad to two daughters.

And Ryan Gosling, 35, looked the very picture of a doting dad as he took his first offspring, 21-month-old Esmeralda, for a day of bonding at a park near his Los Angeles home on Saturday.

The Hollywood heart-throb - who shares two children with actress Eva Mendes - stepped away from his big screen duties to enjoy a trip to popular Griffith Park, where they rode the Southern Railroad.

Doting dad: Ryan Gosling was seen taking his 21-month-old daughter Esmeralda for a day out at Los Angeles' Griffith Park on Saturday morning

Wearing a blue sweater and a Chicago Bulls cap pulled low over his eyes, the screen star was seen carrying his adorable offspring in his arms as he exited his luxury vehicle.

Looking stylish in a cream coat, and with her brown hair up in two pigtails, the tot clung to her father as he carefully seated her for the open-top railway ride, where they were joined by other families.

Despite his superstar status, Canadian-born Ryan blended in effortlessly with the other visiting fathers, mothers and children, intent on having family fun on the unusually gloomy day.

The actor, who welcomed the birth of his second daughter Amada on April 29, recently stated that having girls proved to him that females are 'more evolved' than their male counterparts.

'I think women are better than men. They are stronger. More evolved. You can tell especially when you have daughters and you see their early stages, they are just leaps and bounds beyond boys immediately,’ he told ES Magazine.

His respect and appreciation for women stems back to his childhood and has followed him into his current home life.

‘I’ve always liked women more,' he revealed. 'I was brought up by my mother and older sister. I found my way into dance class. My home life now is mostly women. They are better than us. They make me better.’

On April 14, it was reported that Ryan and 42-year-old Eva were expecting their second child, and Eva gave birth to Amada in Santa Monica two weeks later.

Much like with Esmeralda, the star kept both the pregnancy and birth of her second child under wraps.

Ryan has been hot on the promo trail for his latest film The Nice Guys which he stars in alongside Russell Crowe.

The film sees Russell play a contract killer to Ryan's private investigator, with the pair working together to solve the mysterious disappearance of a porn star in 1970s Los Angeles.

It has won rave reviews from film critics across the world and is expected to do well commercially too, with projected takings of around $10 million on its opening weekend in the US.
