'Those are some big shoes to fill!' Lauren Conrad weighs in on whether she is the Millennial Martha Stewart... while revealing the key to throwing a great party

She has gone from reality starlet, to pop culture phenomenon, to designer to lifestyle guru so her future is definitely unwritten.

Whether that means Lauren Conrad will be the next Martha Stewart, this star is not so sure.

Sitting down with Redbook magazine, the 30-year-old star said following in the queen of all the domestic goddesses footsteps may be a big ask.

Lauren told the magazine: 'Those are some big shoes to fill, and I really don't see myself doing that.'

Though global domination is not that far off for the former The Hills star, as she has successfully gone from reality star to having her own fashion and lifestyle empire that includes books on how to one the host with the most and recently she even launched her own online fair-trade retailer, The Little Market.

And while she may not be quite ready to be Martha yet, Lauren is known for her supreme party throwing skills immortalized in her book Celebrate.

Her party designs have long filled Pinterest walls across the world, however, Lauren said she is now learning to tone down her parties now that she is married.

While the star is a lover of themed events, 36-year-old husband William Tell is a little more low key.

'Now that I'm throwing parties with my husband, William, I have to keep in mind that he prefers - how do I say this - easier themes than what I've done in the past.

'He doesn't like to feel that he's asking friends to go out of their way. So now we do a birthday hoedown because everyone owns a pair of cutoffs and a plaid shirt. I'm learning how to compromise!'

The pair - who married in 2014 - are learning to embrace each other's differences, especially when it comes to collectibles.

'I have a collection of teacups I display in my dining room. My husband doesn’t get why I love them so much. To be fair, I don’t share his passion for guitars. I mean, I guess I can understand why he might not see the beauty in a gorgeous, hand-painted teacup.

'We each have our own things, and that’s healthy.'

And Lauren does not mind toning down her parties too much as, according to the star, less is more when it comes to throwing a great event.

'I always try to make sure that the party I’m putting together isn’t perfect.

Step into summer in style like Lauren Conrad

For an interview in Redbook Magazine, Lauren Conrad looked gorgeous in an array of summery ensembles.

On the cover the reality star and designer star worked a pretty cream frill dress, while the inside pages showed her in a cute denim number, a short floral printed pick and this fabulous midi.

This is the most summery of the bunch with its subtle florals, floaty design and tie shoulders and of course the white and pastel blue hues are perfect for the season too.

We think this dress is perfect for a summer garden gathering, so it was apt Lauren discussed her party planning tips in the interview.

Naturally Lauren wanted to work a piece from one of her own collections and this dress is from her line at Paper Crown. Click right to snap it up.

If you're not feeling her pick though, why not browse our selection of similar midi dresses below by the likes of Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs and more.

'Anything that looks too put-together is too fussy for me. If it feels fussy, then people might not be comfortable. A successful party is about comfort and making people feel welcome.'

The most important thing to remember when having a party is simple - have fun.

'You can dream up the most beautiful table-scape and food, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you are having as much fun as your guests and enjoying each other’s company. The point is to celebrate – and that means everyone.'

Don't try to be perfect: The 30-year-old said, 'If it feels fussy, then people might not be comfortable. A successful party is about comfort and making people feel welcome'

One party she will not be celebrating at is former co-star Audrina Patridge's wedding, with the bride-to-be revealing noone from The Hills - aside from her fiance - made the cut.

Her wedding to Australian BMX rider Corey Bohan may be the kick off the proposed The Hills reunion movie.

Last month it was reported that all stars sans Lauren had expressed interest in being involved, but LC was holding out and there has been no word yet if this is going ahead.

Compromise: Lauren's husband William Tell (pictured March) does not like his friends to have to go all out to attend parties, so she does simpler themes these days and they also find balance when it comes to collectibles - teacups for her, guitars for him - 'We each have our own things, and that¿s healthy'
