Dog day afternoon! Mickey Rourke, 63, models unique grey quiff as he carries one of his small pet pooches to a meeting in Beverly Hills

He's always been outspoken about how important his pet dogs are to him.

So it was no surprise to see Mickey Rourke toting a fluffy, little Pomeranian pooch as he headed to a meeting on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old actor looked happy to be joined by one of his four-legged friends, showing off a smile as he made his way to the meeting in Beverly Hills.

Mickey dressed sharply for his meeting, sporting a fitted, black button down, which he wore with a few of the top buttons undone.

He coupled the top with a brown leather vest, also sporting fitted, light wash jeans for Wednesday's errand.

The Wrestler star finished off the look with a pair of brown leather oxfords, hiding his eyes behind a pair of over-sized sunglasses.

Mickey is a known dog lover, having famously thanked his pets during his acceptance speech at the 2009 Golden Globes for his role in The Wrestler.

'I'd like to thank all my dogs,' he said, 'the ones that are here, the ones that aren't here anymore because sometimes when a man's alone, that's all you got is your dog. And they've meant the world to me.'

And in 2013, after filming Dead in Tombstone in Romania (where he adopted a stray Shepherd mix that had wandered on set), Mickey decided to help with the stray population, as reported by Life with Dogs.

He had announced a goal of $2 million, $250,000 of which he donated from his own pocket to start a sanctuary to care for Bucharest's over 100,000 stray dogs.

He also promised to visit to oversee the sanctuary, noting the primary goal would be for the dogs, not profit. 'Nobody will make any money from this investment,' he had said.

Mickey has recently been working on Alister Grierson's upcoming drama Tiger, which also stars Janel Parrrish and Prem Singh.

Tiger puts the award-winning The Wrestler star back in the ring, this time as boxing coach Frank Donovan, who teaches a young, Sikh man (Prem) to battle through his own adversities.
