Super news! Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Superman opposite Melissa Benoist for TV's Supergirl 

Tyler Hoechlin will be slipping into a tight suit soon.

The former Teen Wolf star has been cast as Superman in the CW series Supergirl, it was announced on Thursday.

The 28-year-old will appear opposite the show's star Melissa Benoist when it hits its new CW home this autumn.

According to EW, fans won't have to wait long to see Tyler in action, as he's set to appear in the very first episode of the new season. 

He will visit National City to meet with his cousin Kara, who is Supergirl. 

'Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,' said EP Andrew Kreisberg.

The second season of Supergirl marks a notable one for the show, as it moved from CBS over to CW. 

It fits right it with its new home as the network hosts a collection of superhero shows, such as The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. 

A crossover episode between each series is set for December, which was announced by CW head Mark Pedowitz in May.

Superman has been played on the big screen by Henry Cavill.

As for Superman himself, Tyler has been suiting up for outside projects aside from his comic book role. 

This year alone, he'll have starred in four feature films and one TV movie. 

In 2017 and 2018, the Corona, CA native will appear as Boyce Fox in the controversial Fifty Shades franchise.
