Discussing pictures of Taylor and Tom kissing just weeks after she split from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, Jamelia said: 'It did strike a chord with me, I recently ended my relationship.

'I was thinking, "Well what is she supposed to do? Am I supposed to stay in mourning?"

'I think it depends on the level of heartbreak and if she's not heartbroken and she wants to move on.Well, if Mr. Right comes along tomorrow, I don't want to spend a certain amount of time alone.'

Jamelia was previously single for eight years, and admitted she thought there were 'no good men left'.

In January, she openly gushed about actor boyfriend Jean-Louis on Loose Women, admitting to the panel: 'Since the day I met him, no one else has existed. I'd given up and thought there were no good men out there.

'It's very important to me that the girls know why this man has been allowed to become my boyfriend. I want my children to know what a good man is.'

But despite being head over heels with her new man - who she met last summer - her daughters weren't as taken with him.

'I told the girls I fell in love. At the time I thought the girls would love him as well. But my daughters have never seen me with a partner,' she said at the time.

'I said I'd involve them in the process and I asked them if they thought he should be my boyfriend and they said no!

'I didn't anticipate that happening and we just had to take baby steps.'

The singer is mother to 14-year-old daughter Teja from a previous relationship with music manager Terry Wallen, and daughter Tiani, nine, with ex-husband Darren Byfield.

But she has openly documented her struggle at finding a suitable partner.

She recently said: 'One of the hardest things about life in the public eye is that I have had to learn that men can be gold-diggers.

'It has definitely resulted in me being more cagey and guarded.'

Jamelia talked further about her personal struggle in May, saying she was diagnosed with depression eight years ago when she split from footballer Darren Byfield.

She said: 'I couldn't function. I wasn't great at the things I normally am. I was so consumed with sadness. It was hard to get up and make the breakfast which is hard when you're a single mother.

'I pride myself on being strong. I ended up at the doctors. I went on anti-depressants and that was a huge turning point for me. I would rather not be medicated. No offence to anyone else.'

The panel asked Jamelia how she came out of it.

'You don't come out of it,' she replied. 'You just become more aware of the triggers. It can be things like being let down by someone or someone upsetting me and then you go in that zone.

'It happened to me recently and I was telling myself that no one cares about me. But I cannot afford to get in a hole.'

She added: 'It's not something I'm ashamed of. I've told my friends about it and now they have an awareness. I think your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

'When you notice you're not functioning, or avoiding friends, being closed off or pulling yourself away, because I'm open about it, they know.'
