'Ermahgerd!' Jimmy Fallon and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson play tongue-tied teens in hysterical school prom sketch

The high school senior prom can be the best - or worst - night of a teenager's life.

And it looked like Jimmy Fallon and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson fell into the latter category when they dressed up in their tuxes for a hilarious skit on Thursday's The Tonight Show.

The pair played awkward teens who didn't have dates for the Saugerties High School party - Jimmy's actual alma mater - and weren't likely to find ones.

In the Ermahgerd Prom Guys sketch they tried, and failed dismally, to talk to girls.

Dwayne, 44, wore a black wig and the show host's smile revealed braces on his teeth

'Got your eyes on anyone tonight?' Jimmy, 41, asked his pal. 'Of course,' Dwayne replied. 'But I like to just sit back and let 'em come to me.'

Since they were standing right by the drinks table it wasn't long before a girl called Stacey walked up - and the pair completely blanked.

With the teen bravado draining away, Jimmy's jaw locked and he eventually spluttered out: 'Ermahgerd, Stercey, yer lerk spertacular'

'Woah, what the heck was that?' The Rock asked as she walked away.

He didn't so any better with Britney. 'Ermahgerd, Brertny! May I have this dernce?' Dwayne said, before he compared her to Beyoncé - 'Hershterg, lemonerde.'

A third girl, Sterphernie, was grossed out by their attempt to make mashed potatoes by slowly chewing mouthfuls of chips and left, completely disgusted.

And Dwayne got a 'berner alert' when a girl actually asked him to dance, leaving him utterly embarrassed and unable to perform.

A that point Jimmy gave up. 'We don't need to dance with dates to have fun,' he said, telling the DJ to hit the music as they hit the floor.

They finally ended up in front of a moon backdrop for the classic Prom photo, as the audience roared with laughter.

Skit aside, Dwayne was on the show to talk about his new comedy, Central Intelligence, co-starring Kevin Hart, due out this weekend.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC, week nights at 11:35 p.m.
