Never ever getting back together: Taylor Swift 'dumped stunned Calvin Harris over the phone'... just like Joe Jonas did to her

She was horrified when former flame Joe Jonas dumped her in a 27 second phone call back in 2008.

But it appears Taylor Swift may have done the same thing to recent beau Calvin Harris.

According to reports, the 26-year-old American singer dumped the British DJ on the phone 'while he was recovering from his car crash'.

TMZ have reported that the Bad Blood star put in the call from Nashville at some point after his car crash on 20 May.

Sources told them she 'was vague during the call, only saying she needed some space'.

They added that Calvin was 'thunderstruck', as he reportedly was under the impression that she 'was in it for the long haul and wanted to help him recover'.

However another source slammed these claims, adding that Taylor had in fact headed to Los Angeles following the incident to help Calvin recover.

MailOnline has contacted Taylor's rep for comment.

In 2008, following a four month relationship, Taylor told Ellen DeGeneres that pop star Joe had dumped her in a 27-second phone call.

At the time she said:  'It's all right – I'm cool. You know what, it's like, when I find that person that is right for me, he'll be wonderful When I look at that person, I'm not even going to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 27 seconds when I was 18'.

However Jonas, who started dating actress Camilla Belle soon after, denied he had ended the call after half a minute.

In his defence, he claimed Taylor ended the call: 'For those who have expressed concern over the "27 second" phone call, I called to discuss feelings with the other person. Those feelings were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did. Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk.'

Explaining his actions to his fans he added: 'I never cheated on a girlfriend. It might make someone feel better to assume or imply I have been unfaithful but it is simply not true. Maybe there were reasons for a breakup. Maybe the heart moved on. Perhaps feelings changed. I am truly saddened that anything would potentially cause you to think less of me.'

It appears Taylor has quickly moved on from her recent break-up with Calvin, after she was spotted in a tender embrace with British actor Tom Hiddleston.

Despite social media users slamming the romance as 'fake', Tom gushed about the star in a recent interview.

Revealing he was sat next to Taylor at the Met Gala on 2 May, Tom told MTV: 'I sat next to her at dinner that night and she was very charming.

'She is amazing. I mean, I've seen a couple of her, like, videos.

'I think I remember Shake It Off was released around the time we made [his film] I Saw the Light. And, erm, she's very cool. Yeah.'

A source told MailOnline: 'Tom wasted no time in asking Taylor out after he learned she was single. They were texting quite a bit and he asked her out.'

Shine on in a silver cut out dress like Taylor

The Met Gala is a magnet for the stylish and beautiful, who descend on the New York museum in all their finery.

This year the theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, corresponding to the exhibition of the same name which the party kicks off.

Taylor Swift, who is one of this year’s hosts, channeled the theme in a custom Louis Vuitton silver dress complete with rah-rah skirt and cut out waist, which she set off with a pair of black gladiator sandals and matching lippy.

Along with her newly dyed platinum locks, this ensemble signals a new edgier look for Taylor, a far cry from her usual style- we wonder if it’s here to stay?

If you’re loving the look, check out our edit of similar styles in the carousel below, including picks from Asos, Missguided and Amelia Rose.

A dress like this does all the talking, so keep accessories to a minimum styling with barely there sandals and a box clutch for a sleek evening ensemble.
