They announced last month that their new hit, Girls Talk Boys, will feature in the Ghostbusters reboot.

And on Thursday 5 Seconds Of Summer opened up to Daily Mail Australia about their first-ever movie track ahead of its release.

'It is like an Aussie takeover...It is really cool,' drummer Ashton Irwin said regarding Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth's role in the upcoming flick.

He went on to add: 'Ghostbusters was a great opportunity for us because it was our first movie sound track.

'It is going to be amazing to have a song on a soundtrack, especially the remake of Ghostbusters.'

While gloating about the experience he went on to reveal that their soundtrack is something 'different' to what fans have heard in the past.

'The song is just fantastic and it also fits in with where the band’s sound is going,' Ashton explained.

'We are so excited for the fans to hear our new direction of music.

'The movie is really cool because it also has other artists like Fall Out Boy, Missy Elliot, Walk The Moon, so it's is cool to be a part of it.'

Despite the band being excited for their new hit's arrival, they admitted it was tough because they only had three weeks to write and produce the track.

Ashton explained that they had to fit in time between their European tour to work on the single.
